Description
Majorika, localized as Maggie Grigri in certain regions, serves as a central witch within the Ojamajo Doremi franchise. Originating as a rose born in the Witch Queen's garden alongside her rival Majo Ruka, both were potential heirs to the throne. Kindly witch Majo Ririka adopted her, earning the affectionate name "Mama Ririka," and fostered Majorika's fierce rivalry with Majo Ruka over the Maho-do shop in Misora City, Japan.

Initially presented as a thin elderly witch, she possessed dark green hair styled in large oval buns, purple eyeshadow, red lipstick, and a dark green one-piece dress beneath a purple-collared cape. Her life altered dramatically when third-grader Doremi Harukaze discovered her true nature and exclaimed "Witch!", triggering a curse. This transformed her into a green witch frog featuring button eyes, a single curled strand of hair, and a prominent purple crystal ball necklace. She remained primarily in this frog form until reverting to her original witch appearance late in the series.

Her personality is distinctly choleric, grumpy, and cantankerous, marked by pronounced greed and vanity. She frequently engages in heated arguments with the witch apprentices, especially Doremi, and exhibits impatience with incompetence or obstacles to her schemes. Beneath this abrasive exterior lies deep, unspoken affection for the apprentices, whom she regards as surrogate daughters. This devotion manifests when she exhaustively cares for the witch baby Hana-chan overnight in Season 2, often appearing visibly drained. She also demonstrates self-sacrifice, notably relinquishing her magic in the fourth season to rescue the apprentices from eternal slumber.

Her potent magical abilities include enchanting magical goods by infusing them with strands of her hair. Even in her frog form, she can cast spells for personal comfort or transportation. Her fairy companion, Lala, shares a close, teasing bond with her, often highlighting her flaws while genuinely caring for her welfare.

Throughout the series, her relationships undergo significant evolution. Her rivalry with Majo Ruka softens into friendship, culminating in them becoming drinking companions. She grows to deeply value the witch apprentices, appreciating Hazuki's intellect, Aiko's business sense, Onpu's profitability, Momoko's developing competence, and Pop's youthful capability, while acting as a secondary mother figure to Hana-chan. In the finale, after Doremi restores her original form, she returns to the Witch World to care for Hana.

In extended media like the light novel series *Ojamajo Doremi 16–19*, she continues mentoring the teenage characters as they navigate renewed witch apprenticeships. Her role endures as a guide within the magical community, highlighting her lasting connection to the apprentices beyond the original anime.
