Description
Jyushimatsu Matsuno is one of the six Matsuno sextuplets. His name derives from 十姉妹 (jyushimatsu), the Japanese name for the Bengalese finch, but is written with the kanji for "pine" and the characters for "fourteen."

In the original manga by Fujio Akatsuka, Jyushimatsu appeared as the quietest sibling, gentler and more reserved than his brothers. Later official profiles from Fujio Pro described him instead as the loudest, noisiest, and most talkative of the six, a capable singer reminiscent of his namesake bird. The CR Osomatsu-kun pachinko game reconciled these versions by noting he had a quiet personality but loved to sing.

As a child in the Osomatsu-kun era, he closely resembled his brothers, usually dressed in a blue shirt and white pants. Some Takeshobo reprints assigned him the color purple, though a later April Fools' joke on the Osomatsu-san website retroactively gave him green. He stood out as kinder, more thoughtful, and friendlier than his siblings, prone to tears and averse to roughness—yet he still joined in their mischief and unreasonable pranks, such as digging pitfalls or putting dandruff in shaved ice, and sometimes displayed eccentric behavior. He often carried 14 yen from the brothers’ shared savings. His obedient nature made him gullible and easily persuaded, occasionally delaying group plans. In one story, he expressed insecurity over his faint presence among the sextuplets and wearied of a world where his name was never called first.

His bonds with his brothers were shown across manga and anime. He most frequently partnered with Ichimatsu for mischief or adventures, appearing together roughly eight times in the manga, including chapters like "A Large and Dispirited Circus" and episodes where they fought believing the other was an alien or guarded a gate together. He also had notable interactions with Karamatsu, such as spying on their father or fighting over seeing Dekapan, and joined Todomatsu and Choromatsu in various group activities and reaction shots.

During his teenage years, depicted in the Osomatsu-san movie, Jyushimatsu adopted a delinquent persona from ages 16 to 18. He maintained spaced, narrowed eyes and a bitter expression in public, though he reverted to a happy face when alone and unobserved. His appearance grew more distinct, with a single cowlick instead of a pair upon entering high school, and he wore his uniform untidily with his shirt hanging out and pants zipper undone. This phase involved masking his inherently cheerful and whimsical self behind a crude and tough exterior, complete with pretend smoking and exposing his buttocks. This evolution solidified through interactions between his adult self and this past version after graduation.

As an adult in Osomatsu-san, Jyushimatsu’s look became even more distinctive, marked by a wide, smiling mouth, visible tongue, and a single cowlick. He typically wore a yellow hoodie with stretched sleeves covering his hands, blue swim shorts, and white socks, switching to yellow slippers at home. Like his brothers, he sometimes appeared in formal wear. His current look was suggested to have originated at age 16, and he was noted to have smiled constantly even as a newborn.

His adult personality is strange and the most child-like of the brothers. Generally happy, energetic, and over-excited, he is rarely serious. His extreme, bizarre attitude makes it difficult to blend with others, leading some brothers to suspect hidden darkness, though they later concluded he operates in his own unique genre. He shows kindness and willingness to help, such as aiding Ichimatsu in finding ESP Kitty, but can exhibit dangerous anger or unreasonable behavior when triggered by cold or other factors, often acting on illogical impulses. He made a tradition of waiting for Santa Claus each Christmas intending to tie him up and capture him. His unusual nature includes reality-warping abilities, like spontaneously multiplying or generating muscle growth.

In one episode, he briefly dated an unnamed girl, bonding through shared understanding and entertainment. Her departure by train left him heartbroken and vulnerable. He is passionate about sports, especially baseball, often chanting "Hustle hustle! Muscle muscle!" and using Ichimatsu tied to a metal baseball bat as a swinging tool. His optimistic and enthusiastic outlook aligns with personality type analyses suggesting he is an ENFP and Enneagram Type 7w6, characterized by seeking new experiences, creativity, and avoiding negative emotions, though these are not definitive.

Throughout his development, Jyushimatsu evolved from a quieter, reserved child to a noisy and talkative individual in later descriptions, finally becoming an energetic, eccentric adult who maintains a unique identity among his brothers while retaining a core of kindness and unpredictability.
