Description
Honmaru Edojo attends fifth grade at Nanno Elementary School in Tokyo. Bullies torment him relentlessly, fueled by his academic struggles, athletic shortcomings, and mischievous antics. This mistreatment, coupled with negative views from peers and townsfolk, leaves him isolated. He nurses a crush on his kind, brilliant classmate Iyona Kawai, yet fumbles to express it properly.

When bullies Jabao Jaba and Korekiyo Ryouguchiya, along with Iyona's friend Rui Ijigawa, push him to a breaking point, his intense despair accidentally summons the young wizard Taruruto from another world. Taruruto becomes his constant companion, aiding him with magic through numerous trials. However, his spells prove unreliable, often lasting mere minutes or backfiring spectacularly.

Initially relying entirely on Taruruto's magical fixes for social and physical hurdles, Honmaru slowly builds resilience. His father, Shogunnosuke Edojo—a martial artist and picture book artist—acts as his primary trainer. Using magic-assisted, intensive regimens, Shogunnosuke prepares Honmaru for competitions and teaches him martial arts, despite sharing some of his son's lewd traits. Honmaru's mother, Chizuru Edojo, offers steadfast kindness and support at home.

Honmaru's conflicts escalate with new foes. He clashes fiercely with narcissistic transfer student Tsutomu Harako, who vies for Iyona's affection and constantly challenges him. Later, troubled twins Neyo and Nezo Zakenja join the school; Nezo emerges as Honmaru's ultimate rival and tormentor. During a martial arts tournament, Nezo tries to weaponize Honmaru's negativity, seeking to brainwash him and harness his despair as power. Honmaru, however, taps into his own burgeoning inner strength to resist, marking a pivotal evolution.

Across his journey, Honmaru transforms. He shifts from magical dependency to confronting obstacles through his own grit and training. This hard-won maturity unlocks genuine inner fortitude, improving his standing with peers and lessening the bullying. His dynamic with Iyona also shifts subtly, showing hints she might return his feelings despite his enduring flaws.

Taruruto's unpredictable magic sometimes transforms Honmaru into his female counterpart, Emoto Marue. Honmaru's path charts a course from weakness and reliance toward earned confidence and capability, forged through persistent effort against relentless trials.
