Description
Yuiyui is a member of the Crimson Demon Clan living in the Crimson Demon Village. Married to Hyoizaburoō and mother to Megumin and Komekko, she often travels with her husband on extended trips to peddle his inventions to gullible customers, leaving their daughters behind, due to his failures locally. Her pressure during one trip led to a successful sale, funding a family meal and Megumin's new uniform.
Beneath a gentle, calm, loving, and often tired maternal exterior lies a ruthless, strong-willed, and manipulative personality. Deeply concerned about her family's poverty and her daughters' future security, especially their marriage prospects, she employs extreme measures. These include threatening with a smile, encasing her husband entirely in ice (leaving only his head) and abandoning him in a monster-filled forest as punishment, and casting insidious spells like Sleep, Lock, Paralyze, and Ankle Snare on those who obstruct her.
Learning from Megumin's letters about Kazuma's alleged harassment, his wealth, and his mansion, Yuiyui schemes to secure him as a son-in-law. During Kazuma's village visit with Megumin's party, she uses Sleep magic to incapacitate Hyoizaburoō, Darkness, and an uncooperative Megumin on consecutive nights. She locks Kazuma and Megumin together in a cold room to force intimacy, stopping only when Sylvia's attack disrupts the second night.
Eager for grandchildren, she later tails Megumin and Kazuma to monitor them and pressures her daughters to marry anyone financially capable, regardless of character. When Sylvia's attack, empowered by the Mage-Killer, devastates the village, Yuiyui and her family are evacuated by Darkness from their outskirts home. She witnesses Komekko firing the railgun at Sylvia and allows Wiz to drain her magical power to empower Megumin and Yunyun's final combined attack that defeats Sylvia.
After their home's destruction, Yuiyui and Hyoizaburoō take out a loan to rebuild it into a modern country house, continuing to live without sufficient food or money.
An Arch Wizard with mastery of Advanced Magic, Yuiyui demonstrates proficiency in intermediate-level spells, particularly curses and utility magic like Sleep, Lock, Paralyze, and Ankle Snare. She can also use Teleport, instantly transporting up to four individuals to one of her three marked locations.
