Description
Kinnikuman Mariposa, originally known as Thief George, is one of the Five Fated Princes selected to compete for the throne of Planet Kinniku. Born on the same day as Kinnikuman and the other princes at the 8th Chojin Hospital on Planet Kinniku, a hospital fire during their stay created the possibility of mixed infants, casting uncertainty over the true heir.
His family, living in poverty, relocated to Mexico City on Earth when he was two years old after his father secured work in a silver mine. This stability proved brief; his father died in a mining accident while rescuing human workers when George was three. Financial hardship returned, and his mother’s health declined from overwork. By age five, George began questioning the worth of honesty amid their struggles. He initially resisted his mother’s lessons on superhuman pride but eventually turned to theft to support his ailing mother and younger brother, John. After his mother’s death, George and John became infamous thieves, operating on Earth and Planet Moctezuma—a world with a thin atmosphere that necessitated oxygen masks and enhanced his jumping ability.
His crimes included stealing the Anoalo Staff, a heirloom of the Robin Clan, taken from a young Robin Mask. His brother John was later killed by Greco, the son of a wealthy robbery victim. George avenged his brother by killing Greco, after which the God of Flight appeared and offered him the chance to become King of Planet Kinniku.
Chosen by the God of Flight, he became Kinnikuman Mariposa and was named one of the Five Fated Princes. He formed a team for the Survivor Match for the Kinniku Throne, comprising Hawkman, King the 100-Ton, Mixer Taitei, and Mister VTR. His team was scheduled to battle Kinnikuman’s team at Kumamoto Castle.
In his match against Robin Mask, he employed techniques such as the Senton Quebradora, Moctezuma Defence, Aztec Drop, and a phony Muscle Revenger. The fight exposed his theft of the Anoalo Staff. Robin Mask ultimately defeated him using the Unicorn Head technique and a Robin Special after a beam from a temple on Planet Kinniku revealed Mariposa’s technique as a fake, confirming he was not the true prince. His mask was removed following his loss, as per tournament rules.
He reappeared during the Omega Centauri’s Six Spears arc, joining other former princes to break into the National Chojin Museum in Tokyo and retrieve their old masks. They traveled to Barcelona and challenged Omega Centauri’s Six Spears to fights, believing them to advance Satan’s plans. His match was against Hailman at Bran Castle in Romania.
During this fight, he confronted Hailman’s freezing techniques, including Blizzard Hand and Hail Breath. He demonstrated an evolved Moctezuma Defence, producing flames through friction against the corner post without the Anoalo Staff. After countering a Freeze Screw Lane with an Enzuigiri, he used a Fire Torch Rocket and defeated Hailman with an Aztec Cemetery.
His character reflects a cunning and pragmatic nature, forged by a life of poverty and crime. Despite his ruthless actions, he retains a sense of justice and a willingness to aid those in need, marking him as a Justice Chojin at heart. In appearance, he wears a luchador mask and outfit, typically blue and white, though sometimes depicted in black and purple, and possesses a darker skin tone compared to other characters.
