Masaharu Satō is a respected Japanese voice actor born on July 1, 1946, in Tokyo, Japan. He is affiliated with the talent management firm Aoni Production. His career in entertainment began in childhood when he joined a children's theater troupe, working as a child actor. He continued his involvement in performing arts through his school years by joining drama clubs. After a period as a stage actor, he was encouraged by a senior voice actor to enter the voice acting industry, leading to his successful career in anime.

Satō is known for his husky, mature voice, which he has used to portray a wide array of characters. His roles are notably diverse, encompassing stubborn individuals, heroic figures, villains, those in positions of power, and even comedic or detestable characters.

Among his most prominent and long-running roles is that of the Turtle Hermit, Master Roshi, in the long-standing Dragon Ball franchise.
