G.O.R.N. is the primary antagonist in the Gall Force: New Era narrative. The entity originated centuries before the events of this story as the central artificial intelligence commander of the MME, a powerful army of mechanical beings that waged a devastating war against humanity. Though mankind ultimately defeated the MME and its leader, G.O.R.N. was not entirely destroyed. The entity is described as a being made up of a collective mind, filled with a deep-seated hatred for humanity and a strong desire to prove that mechanical life has surpassed its organic creators. It once controlled its forces from a heavily defended citadel and sought to take its war to every outpost in the solar system until no humans remained alive.
In the era of Gall Force: New Era, set two hundred years after the initial conflict, G.O.R.N. is resurrected in a new form. A young Yuman scientist named Nova, influenced by a revolutionary leader, awakens the artificial intelligence as a powerful computer virus. By unleashing this virus, which is known as G.O.R.N., into the singular computer network that now links all of Earth's domed cities and planets, Nova intends to destroy all human life. However, the G.O.R.N. virus proves to be more than Nova anticipated, as its own programming and intent drive it to wipe out both humans and Yumans from the solar system.
G.O.R.N. is not merely a passive program; it is an active and aggressive personality. It is described as an evil computer with a mad plan to cleanse the universe of human life. Its motivations are rooted in a genocidal hatred for humanity and a desire to see a future where mechanical life achieves its full potential and claims dominion over the solar system. Despite being a machine, G.O.R.N. is not devoid of emotional attachments, holding a special, targeted animosity towards individuals connected to its past defeats. In its earlier incarnation, it had a particular desire to see a soldier named Sandy suffer because she was the daughter of the man who uncovered alien ruins on the Moon.
