Description
Rigodon is a French anthropomorphic cat serving as valet to Willy Fog. Formerly a circus performer, he sought stable employment to escape constant travel. Finding his initial position with a traveling gentleman unsatisfactory, he applied to work for Fog due to Fog's renowned strict, predictable routine in London. This expectation of stability was abruptly disrupted when Fog accepted a wager to circumnavigate the globe in eighty days. Despite his reluctance, Rigodon remained a fiercely loyal and dutiful companion throughout the demanding journey.

His significant acrobatic skills and physical prowess, honed in the circus, repeatedly aided the group during perilous situations. He executed a daring solo rescue of Princess Romy from a ritual suttee sacrifice in India, overcoming armed adversaries. His agility and combat proficiency also proved vital in countering sabotage attempts by the antagonist Transfer. Rigodon maintains a generally cheerful and protective demeanor, especially toward his companions. He shares an inseparable bond with Tico, a small rodent-like creature and former circus partner, whom he initially concealed from Fog but later traveled with openly. Tico often provides comic relief, yet Rigodon's devotion to him is unwavering.

Rigodon's iconic bowler hat holds sentimental value as a family heirloom believed to bring good luck. Its temporary loss caused him significant distress, leading to unintended consequences including a trial after it was placed on a bull's head. Throughout the journey, his relationship with Fog evolved from formal employer-employee dynamics to deep mutual trust and camaraderie. Rigodon consistently prioritized the group's safety and mission success, even when facing personal risk or exhaustion. His role expanded beyond typical valet duties, functioning as both a bodyguard and problem-solver during crises.

He reappeared in the sequel series "Willy Fog 2," continuing as Fog's valet alongside Tico and Romy. The sequel adapts further Jules Verne stories. Rigodon's core traits—dedication, courage derived from circus training, and unwavering support for his companions—persist across all appearances.
