Description
Tatsuo Aku spent his formative years at Komadori Academy, known as Chibikko House, idolizing the original Tiger Mask, Naoto Date. When Naoto perished rescuing a child, Tatsuo vowed to honor his legacy by adopting the Tiger Mask II identity as self-proclaimed successor. He balanced dual roles—working openly as a Hinode Sports news reporter while secretly competing as New Japan Pro-Wrestling's new Tiger Mask.

The emergence of Outer Space Mask, an unaffiliated antagonist disrupting wrestling, directly spurred Tatsuo's decision to don the mask. As Tiger Mask II, he confronted this threat and other ring challenges, continuing his predecessor's heroic path. His persona operated independently of the original Tiger Mask's ties to the dissolved Japan Wrestling Association, aligning solely with New Japan Pro-Wrestling.

Tatsuo shared Naoto Date's personality traits, often perceived as dull and good-natured. His combat style featured signature techniques: Tiger Finish, Avalanche Hell, Double Hammer, and Rampaging Drum. He trained at the Tiger's Den—Naoto's former organization—though the anime did not explore this background deeply.

Beyond athletic rivalries, Tatsuo navigated conflicts like resisting Ahman Hassan's demands to sell New Japan Pro-Wrestling under threat of economic ruin against Japan. Alongside Antonio Inoki, he opposed this coercion, engaging in confrontations tied to national and organizational stakes.
