Description
Princess Odette, daughter of a king and queen, embodies a kind-hearted, gentle, and graceful spirit with a deep affinity for natural surroundings. During a forest excursion, she encounters and develops feelings for Siegfried. Their burgeoning relationship is disrupted by the sorcerer Rothbart, who curses Odette, transforming her into a swan.
Under this spell, Odette regains her human form only briefly each night. The curse can be broken solely if Siegfried pledges his everlasting love before midnight on her birthday. Throughout her ordeal, Odette defies Rothbart's coercive attempts to force her into marriage, demonstrating courage and maintaining loyalty to Siegfried despite the dire consequences.
Her quiet and reserved disposition coexists with strong moral convictions and deep empathy. She exhibits flexibility in approaching challenges, driven by a desire for harmony and selfless concern for others' well-being. After Rothbart's daughter Odile, magically disguised as Odette, deceives Siegfried into pledging false love, Odette faces irreversible doom due to his unwitting betrayal. Confronted with the choice between accepting Rothbart or death, she chooses to drown herself in the lake. Siegfried joins her.
Their sacrifice breaks Rothbart's power, freeing the swan maidens from the curse, though Odette and Siegfried do not survive. Her story concludes with her refusal to yield to evil, her forgiveness of Siegfried's mistake, and her ultimate self-sacrifice.
