Description
King Suguru Kinniku, first known as Kinnikuman, is the prince and eventual 58th monarch of Planet Kinniku. His origin stems from accidental abandonment on Earth during infancy; his parents, Mayumi and Sayuri Kinniku, mistook him for a pig on a family vacation and ejected him from their spacecraft. Growing up isolated on Earth, he adopted a clumsy, comical superhero identity, frequently causing collateral damage while battling space monsters. His early years involved academic struggles and menial employment before Alexandria Meat revealed his royal lineage, recruiting him to reclaim Planet Kinniku from usurper King Tone. Though defeated by Tone in a decisive match, this defeat ignited his path to becoming a genuine hero.

His character undergoes substantial evolution across official media. Initially portrayed as lazy, arrogant, and emotionally immature—prone to chasing fame or women—he progressively cultivates nobility and courage. This transformation unfolds through wrestling competitions, notably the Chojin Olympics, which he wins twice, establishing his legendary fighter status. Key relationships define his growth: Terryman emerges as his inseparable best friend and tag-team partner, while Bibimba evolves from an assassin targeting him to his devoted betrothed. Their union culminates in marriage and the birth of their son, Mantaro Kinniku. Alliances like his rivalry-turned-respect with Robin Mask further shape his legacy.

In later years, depicted in *Kinnikuman Nisei* (*Ultimate Muscle*), he ages into a physically diminished king with a large stomach and atrophied muscles, though his tactical expertise and grappling prowess endure. As monarch, he annuls past fight records to live as a "mere father" to Mantaro, concealing his heroic past to foster a normal bond. Nevertheless, he trains Mantaro in wrestling fundamentals and intervenes during crises like the Demon Manufacturing Plant (dMp) resurgence. His leadership sees the Hercules Factory reopened to train new heroes, affirming his commitment to justice beyond his prime.

His abilities center on wrestling mastery and "Burning Inner Strength" (Kajiba no Kuso Chikara), unlocking extraordinary power in dire straits. Signature techniques include the Kinniku Buster—a neckbreaker-drop maneuver—and variants like the Neo and Double Kinniku Buster, often deployed in pivotal clashes. Early kaiju-fighting traits, such as growing 30 meters tall via garlic consumption, were phased out as the series prioritized wrestling.

Suguru's narrative spans all media, including the *Survivor Match for the Kinniku Throne* arc where he confronts long-lost brother Ataru Kinniku, solidifying his rule. Post-coronation, he mentors Mantaro in spin-offs and sequels, notably participating in the Hercules Factory graduation match against his son to test Mantaro's hero readiness. His reign confronts threats like the dMp and Demon Seed, during which he supports new heroes despite his retired status.
