Description
Akame is a Kishū Inu with white fur and striking red eyes. He serves as the wise and calm leader of the Iga Ninja Dogs clan and is a well-versed fighter.
His first significant interaction occurred with the dog Ben while Akame was still a human's hunting dog. He was mistakenly shot by Ben's owner, who believed him to be a flying squirrel, resulting in a wounded leg. After the error was realized, the owner treated Akame's injuries. Once healed, Akame pleaded with Ben to be released from his cage, concerned that his pups were too young to survive alone. Ben agreed, allowing Akame to return to the forest and resume his leadership.
Years later, Akame was deceived by a scheme orchestrated by Kurojaki, which led him to poison Ben and his group. Upon discovering the treachery, Akame procured medicinal herbs with Gin's assistance and delivered them to cure the poisoned group. The herbs saved their lives, but Ben was left with permanently impaired vision. After a battle against Kurojaki and the Koga clan that concluded with Kurojaki's suicide, Akame joined Ben's mission and departed for Shikoku. In the manga continuity, Akame later attains the status of a Shuu Tossou Battouga Hakkenshi warrior.
In the narrative of *Ginga Densetsu Weed*, Akame is encountered alongside Gin and John. They cross paths with Sasuke while searching for Gin's missing mate, Sakura. After a confrontation with the antagonist Hōgen and his subordinates, Gin orders Akame to travel to Ōu to seek help and find Gin's son, Weed. Akame obeys and successfully informs Weed of his father's imprisonment. He remains with Mel at Futago Pass.
Akame later assists in strategic decisions, such as selecting a hideout near the Kotobuki River for his comrades. He attempts to persuade Genba's forces to retreat and is forced to physically remove Kurotora from danger during a conflict. He expresses concern over Genba's actions and sends a messenger to recall Weed's pack. Akame is eventually caught in Genba's jaws during a patrol but is rescued by the timely arrival of Weed's expedition.
Serving as a counselor to the younger Ōu warriors, Akame provides medical aid to injured characters like Tesshin. He participates in tracing the fleeing Hōgen and witnesses the final duel between Weed and Hōgen. Akame fully accepts Gin's decision to relinquish his leadership position to Weed.
The character is also documented as the leader of the ancient Iga clan, which has engaged in a prolonged territorial conflict with the rival Koga clan over sacred documents concealed within the Iga base. Initial encounters with Ben's platoon were met with suspicion, as Akame believed them to be spies for the Koga clan.
