Description
Üso Ewin, a 13-year-old boy raised in the remote town of Kasarelia, is thrust into the heart of a conflict between the League Militaire and the Zanscare Empire. Born to engineer Müller Miguel, creator of the Victory Gundam, and Hangelg Ewin, a League Militaire leader, he grows up alongside Shakti Kareen, daughter of Zanscare’s queen. His peaceful life shatters when Zanscare attacks his hometown, forcing him to join the League as the Victory Gundam’s pilot.

Müller designs the upgraded Victory 2 Gundam for him but is captured during its deployment. A rescue mission ends tragically when debris from a destroyed Lysithea-class ship decapitates her. Üso buries her severed head, a stark reminder of war’s personal cost. His father, Hangelg, remains a distant strategic figure, their interactions scarce amid relentless battles.

Üso forges a fierce rivalry with Zanscare ace Cronicle Asher, Shakti’s uncle, echoing historic Gundam conflicts. He confronts Katejina Loos, a former ally radicalized into a Zanscare loyalist, whose descent into fanaticism peaks in a final battle. There, Üso activates his mobile suit’s Wings of Light, deflecting her assault and leaving her broken.

His emerging Newtype abilities—precognition, empathy, and communion with the dead—shape his combat tactics, enabling him to outwit seasoned foes. Piloting advanced machines like the Victory 2 and its Assault-Buster variant, he wields beam shields and Wings of Light for offense, defense, and propulsion.

Haunted by losses, including allies Odelo Henrik and Shrike Team members, Üso channels grief into resolve, fighting to dismantle Zanscare’s tyranny and shield civilians. His efforts destroy the Angel Halo superweapon and topple the empire, though victory leaves him deeply scarred.

Expanded media introduces alternate elements: Tomino’s novels omit the Victory 2 for a Minovsky Drive-equipped model and amplify thematic darkness. Non-canon manga reimagine his journey with comedic tones.

A persistent fan theory links Üso to Char Aznable via his mother’s surname, Miguel, shared by Char’s lover Nanai. Tomino denies this, though production notes reveal early consideration.

Postwar, Üso returns to Kasarelia with Shakti, comrade Marbet Fingerhat, and surviving orphans, embodying tentative hope amid ruins. His arc mirrors themes of youth burdened by war, cyclical violence, and resilience against devastation.
