Description
Hayato Shingu's childhood was shattered at age seven when Egrigori agents annihilated his village and murdered his parents. During this attack, Keith Black severed Hayato's left arm, later replaced by the White Knight ARMS unit. Raised by his grandfather Juzo, he was rigorously trained in the Shingu martial arts style. This forged a singular, consuming drive for vengeance against Egrigori, compelling him to hunt their agents relentlessly.
Initially volatile, Hayato swung between rage, shock, and grief. A fierce sense of justice drove him to impulsively protect the vulnerable and confront evildoers. Significant personal growth emerged through alliances with fellow ARMS users Ryo Takatsuki, Takeshi Tomoe, and Kei Kuruma. These bonds fostered greater self-control, compassion, and emotional stability, enabling mastery of the 'Heart of Water' technique to anticipate opponents' movements in combat.
His White Knight ARMS unit manifested in his left arm as the embodiment of White Alice's protective will. It generated hardened combat blades and projectile launchers for close-range fighting, its effectiveness directly linked to his emotional state. Even untransformed, it provided accelerated healing. The unit possessed multiple stages: a partial form where nanomachines enhanced all physical attributes, and an ultimate armored knight form activated solely by protective instincts, not anger. This final form wielded the 'Lance of Mistilteinn,' projecting an energy field that permanently disabled other ARMS units via an anti-nanomachine virus.
Hayato's character arc culminated in abandoning revenge as his core motivation. Embracing the role of a protector unlocked the White Knight's ultimate capabilities. Concurrently, his relationship with Kei Kuruma evolved from initial conflict into a lasting romantic partnership continuing beyond the series' events.
The White Knight unit also generated sympathetic vibrations near other ARMS hosts, serving as an early detection system. Designed as a countermeasure against the Jabberwock ARMS, its destructive potential against allies created moral dilemmas during missions involving Ryo Takatsuki.
