Description
Aya Tademaru was engineered by her uncle Akio Tademaru in experiments targeting the "Golden Web"—a being generating curative threads. Mastering this power by age three, her inaugural act healed her mother's grave injuries. Confined to a Kinshi-Go basement, Akio treated her as an object, inflicting physical abuse for disobedience. Books offered her sole escape, while her comatose mother remained her only companion; Aya slept beside her to ease loneliness.

Outwardly shy and innocent, her true nature flares as confident, loud-mouthed, and bratty, especially toward her brother Shiki. Though perceived as obnoxious, she wields kindness, aiding others with her gifts. A harsh upbringing forged maturity and intelligence beyond her years, fueling precocious behavior like romantic overtures toward oblivious Kabane Kusaka.

She sports bubblegum pink hair and purple eyes. In Kinshi-Go, she donned a plain short-sleeved dress. Relocating to Tokyo after her mother’s awakening, she adopted a high ponytail, crop top, pink jacket matching her hair, denim shorts, and red sneakers. Later manga iterations feature short hair. Preferring cool, sporty fashion, she rejects frilly or childish attire and avoids stains by wearing an apron while cooking.

Her core ability produces healing threads from her body or hair, mending wounds from trivial to fatal, countering poisons, and curing illnesses. She manipulates hair growth, cutting it so others deploy threads on missions. One technique weaves cocoons that dissolve in water, imbuing it with regenerative properties.

Initially idolizing Shiki as a fairy-tale savior, meeting him sparked crushing guilt over her role in their family’s suffering. Shiki embraced her, and post-mother’s awakening, their dynamic shifted to sibling snark, annoyance, and power struggles—he disapproves of her crush on Kabane. Aya fiercely loves her mother Kumi but agonizes over Kumi’s pain, relentlessly pursuing reunion. She loathes Akio for exploitation and abuse. After moving to Tokyo, she fixates on Kabane, frequenting his detective agency and declaring him ideal boyfriend material—handsome, fun, and mother-approving.

Evolving from abuse victim to assertiveness, reuniting with family in Tokyo ignited vibrant self-expression. She flaunts bold style, aids agency missions with her powers, and radiates loyalty to loved ones.
