Kaede Hondo
Description
Kaede Hondo is a Japanese voice actress born on March 6, 1996, in Aichi Prefecture. She has been active in the industry since 2015 and is affiliated with the talent agency I'm Enterprise. Her path to voice acting began in high school, where she was a member of the theater club. An experience with a club instructor who was a radio personality inspired her to pursue a career in voice acting. To achieve this goal, she enrolled in the Japan Narration Actor Institute before joining her agency.
Hondo made her debut in 2015 with minor roles, but later that same year, she landed her first leading role as Kokoro Yotsuba in the anime series Kamisama Minarai: Himitsu no Cocotama. This was followed by a steady stream of roles in subsequent years, including Yae Kugayama in Girlish Number (2016), Hikari Takanashi in Interviews with Monster Girls (2017), and Minoa Asagaya in Anime-Gataris (2017).
The year 2018 was particularly prolific for Hondo, with starring performances in several series. These included Kanami Etō in Katana Maidens ~ Toji No Miko, Koyume Koizuka in Comic Girls, Hitomi Mishima in Hinamatsuri, Kohaku Tsukishiro in Iroduku: The World in Colors, and one of her most recognized roles, Sakura Minamoto in Zombie Land Saga. The following year, her work was honored with the Best New Actress Award at the 13th Seiyu Awards, a prestigious recognition in the voice acting community.
Throughout her career, Hondo has demonstrated versatility by taking on a wide array of characters. She is known for her performances as the enthusiastic Maple in BOFURI: I Don't Want to Get Hurt, so I'll Max Out My Defense, the titular traveler Elaina in Wandering Witch: The Journey of Elaina, the magical senior in Magical Sempai, and the determined Eiko Tsukimi in Ya Boy Kongming!. Her filmography also includes significant roles in popular series such as Love Live! Nijigasaki High School Idol Club as Haruka Konoe, Mieruko-chan as Hana Yurikawa, takt op. Destiny as Anna Schneider, and The 100 Girlfriends Who Really, Really, Really, Really, Really Love You as Hakari Hanazono.
Beyond anime television series, Hondo has also lent her voice to video games, including characters like Hifumi Ajitani in Blue Archive and Ciel in the Tsukihime remake. Her work continues into the present, with ongoing and upcoming roles in series such as Mission: Yozakura Family as Mutsumi Yozakura and the light anime adaptation of Potion, Waga Mi o Tasukeru, where she plays the lead character, Kaede.
