TV-Series
Description
Laika is a red dragon girl who appears to be around thirteen years old but is actually about three hundred years old. She belongs to the Red Dragon tribe and was once known as the strongest dragon in the province of Nanterre. Her background is defined by her pride in her strength, which led her to seek out the famous witch Azusa Aizawa in order to challenge her. After being easily and swiftly defeated by Azusa, Laika underwent a significant transformation. She abandoned her former arrogance and requested to become Azusa's disciple, moving into Azusa's home and taking on the role of a student and live-in helper.
Personality-wise, Laika is notably polite, quiet, and deeply conscientious. She has a strong sense of honor and respect for everyone she meets, regardless of their reputation. After her defeat, she turned over a new leaf and became humble, hardworking, and highly motivated to improve herself. She is extremely serious and cares a great deal about what others think of her. Despite her diligent and sometimes earnest demeanor, she sees herself as a surrogate big sister to Azusa—a role that often causes mild exasperation for the witch. Laika is also described as honest and always trying her best at everything she undertakes.
Laika's primary motivation stems from a desire to grow stronger and to learn from Azusa. She is driven by a sense of discipline and a wish to prove herself worthy of her mentor’s guidance. In the story, she serves as both a student and a loyal member of Azusa's growing household. She takes on many domestic responsibilities, including cooking, cleaning, and general housework, and she approaches these tasks with the same earnest energy she applies to training.
Her key relationship is with Azusa, whom she respects deeply and looks up to as a teacher. She also interacts with the other members of Azusa's family, such as the slime sisters Falfa and Shalsha, the elf Halkara, and the demon Beelzebub. Among these characters, Laika often acts as a responsible and somewhat serious presence, though she is not without her own quirks and moments of awkwardness.
In terms of development, Laika grows from a prideful challenger into a humble and dedicated student. Over time, she becomes more comfortable in her role within the household and continues to refine both her combat skills and her interpersonal bonds. She remains earnest and hardworking, constantly seeking to better herself.
Notable abilities include the power to transform into a massive red dragon. In her dragon form, she can fly at high speeds and exhale powerful streams of fire. She also possesses a signature physical attack called Dragon Kick. Beyond combat, she has a knack for practical skills such as construction and homemaking, which she uses to help maintain Azusa's house. As a member of the Red Dragon tribe, she also has a particular rivalry with members of the Blue Dragon tribe, though this aspect of her background is less prominent in her daily life.
