Description
Kazane Aoba is a student at the Setouchi Keijo Training School, a quiet and reserved young woman who initially finds it difficult to connect with others. Originally from Hiroshima Prefecture, she is eighteen years old and has a petite build, standing 158 cm tall. Her most distinctive physical feature is her long hair, which she almost always wears in a high ponytail, and this ponytail is noted to be highly expressive, often twitching or swaying in response to her emotions. She is frequently seen with a striped scarf and has a habit of reading Keijo magazines when alone.

In terms of personality, Kazane is extremely shy and diffident, making it a challenge for her to speak openly with people she does not know well. She tends to keep to herself and, when feeling upset or cornered, her gentle tone can shift abruptly to a rougher manner of speaking, often slipping into her native Hiroshima dialect. Despite her timid nature, she is not weak-willed; she possesses a sharp mind and a strong sense of determination that drives her to improve. Over time, thanks largely to her interactions with her more outgoing roommates, she begins to gain confidence and becomes more expressive, showing that her quiet exterior masks a passionate and capable competitor.

Kazane's role in the story is closely tied to her growth from a lonely, background figure into a key strategist and a formidable fighter. She is first introduced as a resident of Room 309, the same dormitory room as the protagonist. Initially, her interactions with her new roommates are minimal, as her shyness causes her to withdraw. However, as she lives and trains alongside them, she gradually opens up, finding a sense of belonging and friendship that she had previously lacked. This support system becomes crucial for her, as she often experiences moments of doubt, even considering quitting after a significant loss. The encouragement she receives from her friends and teachers helps her to persevere, leading to her promotion to the Elite Class.

Her key relationships are primarily with her roommates and a few rivals. Her friendship with Non Toyoguchi is particularly strong, with the two being described as best friends who work well together in team matches. She shares a close bond with Nozomi Kaminashi, whose energetic and straightforward personality is instrumental in helping Kazane come out of her shell. Kazane also has a dynamic with Mio Kusakai, who finds her shyness endearing, and the two eventually become respected rivals. Furthermore, she has an older sister whom she often contacts for advice during difficult times, and it is on her sister's counsel that she learns she does not always have to act so reserved.

Kazane's development is a central part of her character arc. She begins as a timid girl who can barely speak to her own roommates but evolves into a confident and reliable team leader. During class matches and the East-West War, she demonstrates an unexpected ability to command her teammates and devise complex strategies on the fly. Her journey continues after graduation, as she goes on to become a professional Keijo player. Starting as a B-Rank affiliated with the Hiroshima Branch, she eventually advances to A-Rank, showcasing her continuous growth. She becomes a top contender, even winning a major tournament, which solidifies her status as a promising future champion and a sought-after mentor for younger players.

Kazane's most notable abilities revolve around her unique talent, the Scanning Hand. This skill is housed in her right hand, which has a sensitivity far greater than average. By touching an opponent's buttocks, she can instantly analyze and understand their physical condition, fighting style, habits, and even copy their techniques. She is an Out-Fighter, meaning she relies on speed and spatial awareness, and her cunning tactical mind makes her an excellent strategist in team battles.

After mastering the Scanning Hand with her teacher's help, she unlocks her true potential using a technique called Hip of Babylon. This ability allows her to take any technique she has scanned and make it her own, regardless of its original style. Her repertoire of copied moves is vast and includes numerous powerful attacks. One of the first she learns is Meteor Hip, a feint attack that uses the full force of her butt after a deceptive pause. She also uses Mirror Butt, a counter technique that perfectly synchronizes with and retaliates against an opponent's movements; Deadly Snake Butt, which unleashes a rapid, near-continuous stream of attacks; and Hammer Hip, a powerful horizontal swing. Her copied techniques are not limited to hip attacks, as she can also use moves like Boob Dunk, which is a chest-based attack. Perhaps her most extraordinary copied technique is the ancient Neith Butt Bolg, a mysterious and inexplicable move that, when performed, will always strike the opponent's crotch no matter how they try to dodge it. Beyond copying, she also displays creativity by developing original moves, such as the Butt Spear, inspired by studying animal movements. Through her keen observational skills, strategic mind, and the power to make any technique her own, Kazane proves that her quiet demeanor belies one of the most versatile and dangerous talents in her sport.
