Description
Kumi Yamagumonoko is a female Arachne Kemono of average height, possessing a slender build and pale skin. Long, soft pastel pink hair flows past her waist, often secured in a bun. Her magenta eyes and six small forehead markings resembling spider eyes complete her visage. She favors traditional Japanese garments—kimonos, yukatas, or jinbei—paired with Azumasun wooden sandals and socks, though she sometimes walks barefoot. When shifting to her Kemono form, her eyes turn entirely black, two spider-like legs emerge from her torso, and a large, furry protrusion resembling a spider's abdomen dominates her back.
Hailing from a forest in Kinshi-Go, Gunma Prefecture, Kumi formed a family with the eldest Tademaru brother upon his discovery of her. They conceived a son, Shiki, though Shiki's father perished in a forest accident before the birth. Kumi raised Shiki alone, fervently devoted to his well-being. When Shiki contracted a human illness untreatable by Kemono medicine, she sought aid from her brother-in-law, Akio Tademaru. Akio took Shiki to a hospital, sparking Kumi's yearning to raise Shiki as human, despite recognizing her limitations as a Kemono.
Akio exploited this desire, offering Kumi work utilizing her Arachne abilities. The role involved sexual relations with various creatures and Kemonos to create hybrids capable of producing a healing golden thread. Believing this would secure Shiki's future, Kumi agreed. Akio subjected her to years of painful experiments, resulting in numerous offspring. Her body deteriorated as the trials progressed, yet Akio persisted until successfully creating the perfect hybrid, Aya Tademaru. The experiments ultimately plunged Kumi into a deep sleep.
Though Aya healed Kumi's body after her own birth, Akio later concealed Kumi within a cocoon submerged in a water-filled pool, scattering skunk tail cabbage flowers to mask her presence. She remained there, undiscovered, until Shiki and his companions from the Inugami Detective Agency found her.
Rescued and awakened, Kumi reunited with Shiki and Aya. Despite her trauma, she expressed no resentment toward Aya, embracing both children warmly. Her maternal love extended to all offspring from the experiments. She now primarily spends time with Aya and Shiki, integrating into their lives in Tokyo.
