TV-Series
Description
Melonpanna serves as a central character in the Anpanman universe, crafted by Uncle Jam to join the main heroes. Her head consists of melon bread, featuring a crisp cookie-dough exterior with a cross-hatched pattern like a melon rind. She debuted later in the series, first appearing in anime episode 200.

Gentle, nurturing, and sensitive, Melonpanna often shows vulnerability in dangerous situations. She harbors deep devotion to her older sister, Rollpanna, whose absence causes Melonpanna significant loneliness. This longing sometimes emerges as possessiveness, with Melonpanna expressing jealousy towards others interacting with Rollpanna. Despite her pacifistic nature, she displays courage when protecting others.

Her signature ability is the "Melo-Melo Punch," which incapacitates foes by inducing temporary affectionate euphoria or blissful paralysis without physical harm. This punch can also awaken individuals from deep slumbers. She can secrete "Melo-Melo Juice" from her head, countering Baikinman's malicious schemes like curing allies affected by his "blackening" influence. Like other core heroes, she flies using her cape.

Melonpanna's defining narrative centers on her relationship with Rollpanna. She actively participated in Rollpanna's creation, adding her melon juice to the dough hoping for an ideal sisterly bond. Baikinman sabotaged the process by injecting a "Baikin Plant" alongside Uncle Jam's "Flower of Purity," resulting in Rollpanna developing dual hearts—one benevolent triggered by Melonpanna, one malevolent triggered by Anpanman. This instability forced Rollpanna into isolation, intensifying Melonpanna's loneliness. Their dynamic is explored in media, including the 1995 film *Yūreisen o Yattsukero!!*, where they reconcile via a shared connection with a mystical horse named Marin while confronting Baikinman's ghost ship plot.

Within the hero group, Melonpanna shares a close, sibling-like bond with Anpanman, who acts as a protective older brother. She also regards Creampanda as a younger brother figure. Her interactions with heroes like Shokupanman and Currypanman involve collaborative crisis efforts, often combining their signature punches into coordinated attacks.

Melonpanna's character development emphasizes emotional resilience. Her persistent efforts to connect with Rollpanna, despite setbacks, demonstrate unwavering loyalty. She evolves from frequently needing rescue to performing pivotal interventions, particularly neutralizing Rollpanna's evil transformations through affection or her Melo-Melo abilities. Her stories consistently highlight themes of familial love, compassion, and non-violent solutions.
