TV-Series
Description
Created from a bun filled with hot, spicy yellow curry, Currypanman is a major series character. His origin, depicted exclusively in the manga, shows Uncle Jam baking him, making him Anpanman's younger brother in that continuity; however, the anime and his character song leave his birth origins unknown.
He possesses a brown, lemon-shaped head reflecting a currypan's form, featuring red cheeks. His attire includes an orange uniform with a lemon-shaped emblem, a white belt, yellow gloves, a yellow cape, and yellow boots.
Currypanman is cocky, proud, and thrives on excitement, exhibiting high self-confidence and narcissism that surpasses even Shokupanman. Despite this, he remains fundamentally kind and generous, eagerly offering his curry to feed others, though he can be insensitive toward matters he deems unimportant. He champions a "spicy" philosophy of life—embracing risk and self-challenge—frequently clashing with Shokupanman's cautious outlook, leading to arguments while maintaining their close bond.
His primary abilities are the Curry-punch and Curry-kick, similar to Anpanman and Shokupanman's attacks, though Currypanman often winds up his arm more before punching. His signature ability is Curry Spit, expelling hot curry from his mouth to blind foes or feed people. Excessive use shrinks his head, weakening him until powerless. He also performs combination attacks like the Double Punch (with one ally) and Triple Punch (with two allies), typically alongside Anpanman and Shokupanman. He carries a cooking pot filled with curry during flights, using it to prepare meals. In some western-themed episodes, he wields dual pistols loaded with his curry for ranged attacks.
Currypanman undergoes distinct transformations: Baikinman injecting him with extremely spicy curry triggered a "Fiery" state, making him uncontrollably enraged and attacking indiscriminately until consuming seasoning made by Uncle Jam restored him. Drinking curry from Batakoko and the Spice Prince turned him into "Spicy Currypanman," enhancing his heat and strength to counter blizzards. Consuming mint-infused curry transformed him into "Refreshed Currypanman," adopting a polite demeanor akin to Shokupanman.
He views Anpanman and Shokupanman as close allies despite initial friction, particularly with Anpanman over early critical remarks. He considers Uncle Jam and Batako as parental figures, given their roles in his creation (per manga lore) and care, and sees Melonpanna, Rollpanna, and Creampanda as siblings.
He ranked seventh in a 30th-anniversary popularity poll.
