Description
Originally named Aouda in Jules Verne's novel, Princess Romy is an orphan who married an Indian Rajah devoted to the goddess Kali. After her husband's death, she faced forced suttee but was rescued by Rigodon's dramatic intervention. This rescue introduced her to Willy Fog's group during their global journey.
Joining initially to find relatives in Singapore, she stayed after learning they had died. She then assumed medical duties, tending to wounded individuals encountered during their travels. Visually, she is depicted as a purple or blue-grey feline—specifically identified across sources as a panther, lioness, or cat. She typically wears a long dress or skirt concealing her feet, though early scenes show a black veil later replaced by white.
Throughout the journey, her affection for Willy Fog deepened. Believing the group lost their wager and faced ruin, she proposed marriage. This practical and emotional gesture inadvertently prompted Rigodon to realize they arrived in London a day early, securing their victory. After winning, she offered to dissolve the engagement, but Fog declined, and they married in the first series' finale. She appears as Fog's wife in the sequel series.
Her interactions include a close, platonic bond with the protective Rigodon and Tico, Rigodon's companion, who harbors an unrequited crush. Her character evolves from a figure in distress to a resilient and integral group member, demonstrating compassion through medical care and emotional support during their travels.
