Description
Jean Passepartout, adopting the name Rigodon in this version, is a French cat formerly employed as a circus performer. Craving stability after years of constant movement, he becomes valet to Willy Fog, drawn by Fog's reputation for strict routine and minimal travel. Rigodon's hope for a settled existence shatters when Fog accepts a wager to circle the globe in eighty days, abruptly plunging him back into an itinerant life.

Accompanying Rigodon, hidden within his luggage, is his former circus partner Tico, a pika. Tico remains concealed initially but journeys with them, frequently consulting his "sun-clock" artifact to tell time and known for his considerable appetite.

Rigodon's circus past equips him with practical skills vital during the perilous journey. His agility, daring nature, and knack for problem-solving repeatedly help overcome obstacles. He exhibits deep loyalty and courage, most notably during the rescue of Princess Romy in India, where he impersonates her deceased husband on a funeral pyre to save her from sati, risking his own life.

Despite the extraordinary circumstances, Rigodon maintains a dutiful and conscientious approach to his valet duties. His interactions showcase resourcefulness and occasionally provide comic relief through his earnest reactions to challenges. His relationship with Fog gradually transforms from formal employment into dedicated companionship, defined by his unwavering commitment to ensuring Fog wins the wager.
