Carlo Bonomi
Description
Carlo Bonomi was an Italian voice actor, born in Milan on March 12, 1937, with a career spanning from 1963 until his retirement in 2008. He was the Italian voice for numerous characters in foreign animated series dubbed for the Italian market. He provided the Italian voice for Sig. Nakazato in the 1991 OAV series Slow Step. He voiced the elderly Brian Thompson in the anime Soccer Fever. In the 1972 anime series Calimero, he voiced the character Mr. Paperazzi. He also provided the voice for Passepartout in the 1983 anime series 80 Days Around the World With Willy Fog. He was best known for creating the nonsensical, grammelot languages for iconic characters. He was the sole voice of all characters in the first four series of the stop-motion children's show Pingu from 1990 to 2000. He voiced the titular character in the animated series La Linea from 1971 to 1986, using a similar invented language. His voice was a staple in Italian advertising for the show Carosello, and he was the voice of Mickey Mouse and Fred Flintstone for Italian audiences. From 1985 until 2008, his recorded announcements were a familiar sound at Milan's central railway station. Carlo Bonomi passed away in Milan on August 6, 2022, at the age of 85.
