Description
Kassie Carlen, originally named Karin Kokubu, is an ordinary seventh-grade student at St. Ringo School. Her routine life shifts dramatically when she encounters an apparently injured yellow pig on her way to school. After eating her apple, the pig miraculously recovers. Unaware, Kassie continues to school, not realizing the pig has hidden in her backpack, leading to disruptions. She later discovers this pig is Prince Tonrariano III from the apple-shaped planet Buuringo, possessing the abilities to talk and fly. The Prince presents her with a "Dream Tonpact" device that attaches a pig snout to her nose.
By uttering the transformation phrase "Ba Bi Bu Be Burin!" or "BA BI BU BE BOorin!", Kassie becomes Tonde Burin, a superpowered pink piglet capable of flight and other abilities. She dislikes this form, yearning for a traditional magical girl transformation like her idol "Cutey Chao." Prince Tonrariano explains she must collect 108 pearls by performing good deeds to earn her desired form. This pearl system operates on karma; misusing her powers causes pearl loss. A critical condition exists: if anyone discovers her true identity, she will permanently remain a pig.
In her civilian life, Kassie maintains typical teenage concerns. She harbors a crush on classmate Koichi Mizuno, captain of the soccer team, who admires Tonde Burin without knowing Kassie's dual identity. She enjoys painting and navigates school life with friends like Masami Yamakawa and Kaoru Hidaka. Her rival, the wealthy Keiko Kuroha, frequently competes with her, particularly over classmate Takuma Mushanokoji, who has feelings for Kassie.
Her family includes her father, Shinichiro Kokubu, a newspaper editor obsessed with uncovering Tonde Burin's identity, and her younger brother, creating domestic tension as she conceals her secret. Classmate Jimmy Matsumoto also investigates Tonde Burin, increasing her anxiety about exposure.
Throughout her adventures, Kassie intervenes in crises, balancing heroism with her personal life. Her character evolves from resisting the pig form to gradually accepting its responsibilities. A pivotal moment occurs when multiple classmates, including Koichi, discover her identity, triggering the permanent transformation consequence and leaving her stuck as a pig. Despite this, Koichi eventually reconciles with her true identity. The series concludes with Kassie returning to normal human form after fulfilling the pearl collection quest and achieving her wish, alongside resolving her romantic relationship with Koichi.
