His compulsion resurfaces later during a wave of mysterious burglaries in Polderstad. However, Pikkie evolves beyond petty theft. When Dolf ascends as a fascist dictator, imprisons opponents, and declares himself emperor, Pikkie throws his lot in with Alfred's resistance movement. He plays a critical role by infiltrating the palace vaults and stealing Dolf's inherited fortune. This act directly contributes to Dolf's loss of power and eventual downfall.

In subsequent political struggles, including Great Waterland's first democratic elections where Dolf attempts a comeback, Pikkie remains Alfred's steadfast ally.
