OVA
Description
Demitri Maximoff, a vampire noble from Makai’s demon realm, was exiled to the human world a century before *Night Warriors: Darkstalkers’ Revenge* after failing to usurp Makai’s ruler, Belial Aensland. His defeat left him gravely wounded and sunlight-vulnerable, forcing him to encase his castle, Zeltzereich, in a protective energy field. Slumbering within a casket for 50 years, he intermittently emerged during full moons to hunt humans, prizing the blood of innocent maidens like rare wine. Those he bit became loyal thralls, amassing 40 servants by the time he regained 80% of his power.

Once restored, he forged a temporary sunlight-defying aura and clashed with Pyron, an alien conqueror. After devouring Pyron’s energy, Demitri returned to Makai, only to find Belial dead and his daughter Morrigan Aensland ruling. Before challenging her, his castle was ensnared in Jedah Dohma’s Majigen dimension, redirecting his focus to overthrowing Jedah as a steppingstone to dominion.

In the *Darkstalkers’ Revenge* OVA, Demitri shrouded a human city in a century of darkness, inciting revolt. Upon awakening, he summoned worshippers to his castle, slaughtering them to assert dominance. Morrigan disrupted his schemes, sparking a battle interrupted by Pyron’s Huitzil enforcers. When sunlight breached the clouds, Demitri retreated, later surviving Pyron’s assault and allying temporarily with Morrigan to witness Donovan Baine’s triumph. Their rivalry intertwines grudging respect with tactical cooperation against mutual foes.

Demitri commands flight, pyrokinesis via his Chaos Flare, and shapeshifting into a bat or winged demon. His Midnight Bliss technique twists male foes into female counterparts or reduces women to doll-like forms, enabling blood draining—a recurring ability underscoring his manipulative hedonism. He disdains humans yet savors their blood, preferring AB-type and virgins. Four named attendants oversee his castle, sustaining his lavish domain.

Non-canon depictions, like the 1995 animated series, reimagine him as Dracula’s nephew and Pyron’s cowering subordinate, reliant on artifacts like the Crystal Skull—a departure from his strategic, ambitious canon persona. Official narratives consistently frame him as power-hungry, fixated on conquering Makai and despising weakness, whether in rivals like Morrigan or the humans he views as prey.
