Description
Greta, an 11-year-old girl who celebrates her 12th birthday in episode 20 and reappears as a 16-year-old in the OVA special, thrives on competition. As Saga’s self-proclaimed rival, she devises spontaneous challenges to prove herself, fueled by a mix of admiration for Saga’s popularity and her own craving for validation. Born into privilege as the indulged heiress of a wealthy family, Greta flaunts her status with ostentatious gestures like brandishing a cherished ring from her father, masking her insecurities with arrogance. Beneath her boastful exterior lies a genuine kindness that sporadically emerges, hinting at her softer core.

Her early clashes with Saga oscillate between comedic mishaps and earnest overreach, as Greta’s schemes to overshadow her rival often backfire, inadvertently showcasing her lack of ill intent. This rivalry gradually softens into mutual respect, culminating in a more cooperative bond by the series’ end. The OVA special, set four years later, humorously reignites their dynamic during a school play, casting Greta as an over-the-top evil witch opposing Saga’s princess—a theatrical nod to their enduring, good-natured competition.

Uprooted to Mühlenburg, Greta’s initial aloofness stems from her family’s wealth and her struggle to integrate, amplifying her need to assert dominance. While her antics occasionally disrupt Saga’s orderly world, they also catalyze growth for both, threading themes of friendship and self-discovery. Her role remains tightly interwoven with Saga, with minimal interactions beyond Sugar and the fairies, anchoring her narrative purpose to the evolution of this central relationship.
