Description
Mayo Sakaki, originally Maya Sasaki, is a 16-year-old with vibrant orange hair and piercing yellow eyes, standing 158 cm. Her childhood, initially sheltered by parental warmth, fractures after her parents' divorce, leaving profound emotional scars that fuel bitterness and a pattern of concealing fragility behind calculated anger and manipulation.

Thrust into the Universe of the Four Gods to escape her crumbling reality, she obsessively pursues an idealized romance with married diplomat Taka Sukunami. This quest crowns her the "False Priestess of Suzaku," a title she wields to spread malicious lies about Miaka Yuki and Emperor Hotohori, manipulating Konan’s political landscape for validation.

A malevolent false Suzaku entity exploits her insecurities, warping her perception into believing Taka and allies conspire against her. Spiraling desperation drives her to threaten Miaka and Taka’s unborn child—briefly entrusted to her as the Shinzaho’s guardian—and culminates in a suicidal plunge into a river.

Confrontations with Reizeitei, Hotohori’s son, dismantle her fabricated narratives about Miaka and his father, while Houki, Hotohori’s widow, challenges her with unflinching truths about their marriage. These exchanges ignite a transformative awakening, chipping at her delusions.

Her arc pivots when she allies with Miaka to summon the true Suzaku, banishing the corrupt entity and revitalizing Konan. Resurrected with renewed clarity, Mayo returns to her world carrying hard-won wisdom, though her path leaves tangled scars of destruction and redemption.

Keisuke Yuuki, a steadfast classmate, follows her into the novel’s realm, offering persistently rebuffed guidance. Her toxic rivalry with Miaka mirrors an refusal to reconcile reality with fantasy, while her fixation on Taka exposes a pathological craving for validation. The light novel delves deeper into her bond with Keisuke, hinting at latent romantic tension beneath his brotherly facade, emphasizing her gradual recognition that genuine connection requires mutual trust.

Physical decay mirrors her psychological unraveling: a vanishing reflection and spectral transparency signal her existential detachment, starkly visualizing the choice between clinging to destructive illusions or embracing accountability.
