Description
Dr. Komyoji, a visionary robotics expert, constructed the android Jiro—codenamed Kikaider—to safeguard his children, Mitsuko and Masaru, from the terrorist group DARK. During Jiro’s creation, Professor Gill, DARK’s leader, orchestrated a laboratory explosion that destroyed his facility, leading to Komyoji’s capture and covert manipulation. Forced under duress to design destructive machines, Komyoji’s brain was later implanted into Hakaider, a lethal android, as part of Gill’s strategy to weaponize his genius while erasing his free will.

His wife, initially appearing as a devoted mother, concealed her role as a deep-cover DARK operative tasked with surveilling him. Over time, her loyalty fractured under genuine love for their children, culminating in her sacrificial suicide upon revealing Gill’s headquarters—a pivotal act that enabled Jiro and Mitsuko to strike at DARK’s core. During a climactic clash, Komyoji’s consciousness within Hakaider momentarily overrode DARK’s control, allowing him to aid the infiltration of the organization’s stronghold. With assistance from ally Hanpei Hattori, his brain was extracted and restored to his original body.

Following physical recovery, Komyoji repaired Jiro’s damaged transformation circuit, reigniting the android’s capabilities. His influence lingered in Jiro’s later existential struggles, particularly in OVA narratives exploring artificial morality after Gill’s defeat. Though Komyoji’s direct involvement waned post-recovery, his legacy endured through subsequent creations like Ichiro and Rei. Estranged from Mitsuko and Masaru due to years of separation and trauma, he remains a fractured paternal figure—his daughter clinging to hope for reconciliation, mirroring the unresolved echoes of his fractured humanity.
