Description
Hayate no Sakon, the sole survivor of the Hyuga ninja clan after its destruction by demonic forces under Oda Nobunaga's command, becomes a bandit leader whose group targets travelers. His path shifts upon encountering Ayame, another survivor seeking revenge; their initial confrontation turns to reluctant alliance when attacked by a common enemy, forging their cooperation against Nobunaga.
Sakon presents a calm, coolheaded demeanor, masking deeper emotions. He approaches situations cautiously, avoids impulsive decisions, and harbors skepticism about their chances against Nobunaga's supernatural armies. Trust does not come easily to him, leading to initial distance from allies like Ayame and Ryoma. After witnessing the perceived futility of the Iga ninja's stand against Nobunaga, he abandons the group during a critical battle, prioritizing survival over a hopeless fight—a decision causing significant inner turmoil beneath his detached facade.
Following this departure, Sakon retreats to the mountains, focusing on meditation and distancing himself from the conflict. He later returns without explicit explanation, rejoining the final assault on Nobunaga's stronghold. During the climactic battle against the demon Ranmaru, he sacrifices himself by intercepting a fatal blow intended for Ayame. As he dies, he attempts to convey an unspoken sentiment to her but cannot recall it before succumbing.
In combat, Sakon wields the Sword of Sorcery, one of the three mystical Demon Blades. His exceptional speed and decisive fighting style earn him the epithet "Sakon the Whirlwind." He typically relies on his own abilities rather than seeking support from others.
