Description
Hikaru Amagi, a seemingly ordinary teenage girl living on Earth, was actually discovered as a child inside a crashed spaceship pod by Koichi Amagi and Miki during their engagement. They adopted her, naming her Hikaru and raising her as their daughter. Unbeknownst to her, she originates from the distant planet Gran and is the last survivor of its royal family, the Gran Naas lineage. Her biological parents sent her to Earth to protect her and the powerful Royal Armor tied to her heritage.

As a cheerful, energetic, and somewhat clumsy high school student, Hikaru enjoys typical teenage activities, harbors a strong crush on her senior Narasaki, and avidly watches the superhero show "Rock'n Dorger." She loves anything cute. Fragmented, unclear memories of Gran's fiery destruction in a coup led by the antagonist Friedshalf occasionally surface in her dreams. She feels close to her adoptive parents and best friend Haruna Saotome, though she secretly suspects and later confirms she isn't their biological child.

Her normal life shatters when Friedshalf's generals, Peos and Sigil, send forces to Earth seeking the Royal Armor. When the cyborg Garbiggi attacks an amusement park and endangers Narasaki, Hikaru's latent powers awaken. Guided by the armor's consciousness, Gran Knight, she learns to transform into the warrior GranDoll using the phrase "GRAN Change." This equips her with pink-colored armor granting flight, energy weapons, and enhanced combat abilities, her signature attack being "Shining Breast." The armor's strength depends directly on her emotional resolve, especially her desire to protect others.

Initially reluctant to embrace her GranDoll destiny, Hikaru struggles with the disruption to her peaceful life. However, repeated threats to her loved ones and planet force her to confront her role. Her adoptive parents eventually formally reveal her origins, though she'd already deduced the truth, affirming she considers them her true parents regardless. Her resolve solidifies when Friedshalf directly threatens Earth's destruction to claim the armor.

Her character deepens through her complex dynamic with Sigil, initially an enemy sent to retrieve the armor. Sigil, indebted to Friedshalf for freeing her from slavery, challenges Hikaru and takes Narasaki hostage. Witnessing Friedshalf's willingness to destroy Earth and learning from Gran Knight that he orchestrated the murder of Hikaru's biological parents causes Sigil profound conflict. Hikaru's persistent kindness and offers of friendship lead Sigil to defect, aiding Hikaru against Friedshalf and Peos. They join forces to deflect a planetary assault, showcasing Hikaru's growing leadership.

In the final confrontation aboard Friedshalf's ship, Hikaru fully recovers her suppressed memories of Gran's destruction and her parents' deaths at Friedshalf's hands. Fueled by this revelation and determination to protect her adopted home and family, she engages Friedshalf in combat. When Sigil intervenes and is critically wounded by Friedshalf, Hikaru's resolve intensifies. Facing defeat, Friedshalf attempts a final planetary destruction, forcing Hikaru to fully harness the armor's power to stop him. Her love for Narasaki fuels her emotionally, though she prioritizes her cosmic responsibilities.

By the conclusion, Hikaru achieves significant growth, reconciling her identity as both an Earth-raised teenager and the princess of Gran. She actively chooses to protect Earth and the universe, demonstrating courage and accepting the burden of her heritage and the Royal Armor while cherishing the bonds with her adoptive family and friends.
