Description
Prior to Second Impact, Kohzou Fuyutsuki was a professor of metaphysical biology at Kyoto University. There, he mentored Yui Ikari, forging a significant academic and personal bond. His first encounter with Gendo Rokubungi (later Gendo Ikari) involved bailing Gendo out of police custody after a bar fight, an act which immediately established Fuyutsuki's distrust. This distrust intensified upon learning of Yui's romantic relationship with Gendo, a union Fuyutsuki privately disapproved of despite maintaining outward professionalism.

After Second Impact ended his academic career, Fuyutsuki worked as an unlicensed doctor in Toyohashi during the post-disaster shortage. He later joined a UN expedition to Antarctica, uncovering evidence linking Gendo and SEELE to the catastrophe. Confronting Gendo with his findings, Fuyutsuki was shown the underground GeoFront and Evangelion Unit-00 prototype. Facing elimination by SEELE for his knowledge, he joined Gendo's organization Gehirn (later NERV) out of necessity.

As NERV's Deputy Commander, Fuyutsuki became Gendo's closest confidant, managing operations during Gendo's absences. Despite his personal dislike for Gendo, loyalty persisted, partly driven by their shared goal of reuniting with Yui, whose consciousness resided in Evangelion Unit-01. Fuyutsuki was aware of SEELE's Human Instrumentality Project and Gendo's divergent plans, often acting as a pragmatic counterbalance to Gendo's ruthlessness.

During the events of "Thrice Upon a Time," Fuyutsuki assisted Gendo in restarting Evangelion Unit-13 to initiate the "Additional Impact." He commanded the Nemesis Series (04 Series) Evangelions to test and confront WILLE, overseeing tactical deployments including attacks on WILLE's flagship, the Wunder. His actions culminated in supporting Gendo's confrontation with Shinji Ikari within the Anti-Universe and Gendo's final plan to use Instrumentality to reset the world, enabling humanity to live without Evangelions. Fuyutsuki's fate after this reset remains undisclosed.

Throughout the Rebuild films, Fuyutsuki maintained his characteristic stoicism and dry wit. His motivations consistently blended obligation, survival, and lingering devotion to Yui's legacy, though he had minimal direct interaction with characters like the pilots.
