TV-Series
Description
Jun Ishigaki is a 23-year-old detective with the Tokyo Police Department, born on April 18th, standing 174 cm tall and weighing 63 kg. Initially partnered with Sasazuka after Inspector Takeda's arrest, his early portrayal emphasizes clumsiness, unreliability, and a cowardly demeanor that often hindered investigations. He was careless in his duties and frequently overlooked by colleagues, including Neuro and Yako, who showed little concern for his anxieties about potential dismissal.
His primary hobby involves collecting and constructing toy models, a skill at which he demonstrates notable proficiency, though his creations are often destroyed by Sasazuka or later Shizuka Todoroki out of annoyance. He also enjoys reading manga and incorporates doodles into his official work reports. Despite his perceived incompetence, Sasazuka values his presence, recognizing that diverse personalities aid departmental collaboration.
Ishigaki's role evolves significantly. He witnesses the criminal X during the Statue Case but is too terrified to assist Sasazuka in combat, leading to his temporary reassignment during Sasazuka's recovery. The introduction of Shizuka Todoroki as another partner for Sasazuka triggers intense insecurity in Ishigaki, fearing replacement. This insecurity culminates in the Café Murder Case, where he actively attempts to prove his value. It is ultimately revealed the department intends for officers to have dual partners to counter Sicks, securing his position.
He participates in critical operations, including the infiltration of the Green X Corp. building, where Genuine's mirror illusion deceives him into fighting fellow officers until Neuro intervenes. During a police fishing trip, he achieves the largest catch—the character Asada. This victory leads to a bet requiring Shizuka Todoroki to address him as "senpai". Later, X impersonates Ishigaki in an assassination attempt on Sasazuka; the real Ishigaki attends Sasazuka's funeral.
Following these events, Ishigaki displays increased independence and responsibility, attributed to honoring a deceased senior. He joins the police raid on Sicks' limousine alongside Todoroki in the final confrontation. By the series conclusion, he remains employed by the Police Department, continuing his partnership with Todoroki. His popularity among readers rose dramatically, jumping from 43rd place in the series' second popularity poll to 2nd place in the third poll.
