She fears the inherent risks of battling demons with magic, knowing practitioners can transform into monsters themselves. Tragically, she dies in a demon attack shortly before Isaac's planned retirement. Her death shatters Isaac, profoundly altering his character and motivations. In his grief, he cradles her body, staining his hands with her blood which he later wears "like war-paint" as he seeks answers. Her killing is eventually revealed as part of a conspiracy; Isaac's corrupt employer indirectly orchestrated the attack by sabotaging protective equipment.
