Description
Reiichirou Shiba, an illegal zombie operating under the alias "Butterfly," has ties to a mysterious group defined by butterfly motifs. His zombification stems from a suicide leap off a building, driven by suffocating boredom and a yearning for freedom. In exchange for servitude, an unknown entity granted him an "unboring" existence.

Shiba maintains a calm, cool, and intellectually sharp demeanor. He rarely asks probing questions but displays suspiciously deep knowledge of zombie cases—especially those involving the butterfly group—earning distrust from Shito Tachibana. He shares a history with Chika Akatsuki, having been best friends in middle school; their dynamic alleviated Shiba’s boredom until their friendship fractured upon entering high school.

Initially appearing to assist Chika and Michiru Kita in a confrontation, Shiba infiltrates the Zombie-Loan office alongside them. Despite Shito’s hostility, Chika’s advocacy secures his temporary acceptance. During a mission against the butterfly cult, Shiba’s betrayal surfaces: he withholds critical information and manipulates events, culminating in a rooftop battle. This conflict triggers a flashback revealing his suicide and zombification. As he falls mid-fight, a shinigami claims him—marking the first instance of a zombie reaped by a shinigami instead of Zombie-Loan.

Shiba wields an ectoplasmic knife projected and controlled psychically, later evolving to a scythe. His allegiance shifts when he steals the "core" of Zarame the Grim Reaper, transforming into a false Grim Reaper. This act aligns him with the antagonistic Akashic Record Reform Committee, where he collaborates with figures like Hakka. He develops a fascination with Michiru, frequently calling her "cute" due to her abnormalities as a Singularity. His actions fuel conflicts tied to the ARRC’s manipulation of Akashic records.

Ultimately integrated into the ARRC, Shiba becomes an adversary to the Zombie-Loan team. His motivations intertwine an unyielding pursuit of freedom from ennui with a gravitational pull toward chaos and irregularity.
