Description
"Zombie-Loan" is a supernatural action anime based on the manga by Peach-Pit. The narrative centers around Michiru Kita, a high school girl with the unique ability to see a ring of light around people's necks, which indicates their impending death. One day, she notices that two of her classmates, Chika Akatsuki and Shito Tachibana, have black rings, signifying they are already dead. Chika and Shito reveal they are part of a secret organization called Zombie-Loan, which grants them extended life in exchange for hunting rogue zombies. The organization is run by a mysterious entity known as the Management, which oversees contracts between the living and the undead.

Michiru becomes entangled in their world after a near-death experience, which leaves her with a fragmented soul. To survive, she must rely on Chika and Shito, who are bound to the Zombie-Loan system. The trio forms an uneasy alliance as they navigate missions to eliminate dangerous zombies threatening the living. Along the way, they uncover deeper mysteries about the Zombie-Loan system, the Management, and the true nature of their contracts. Michiru’s ability to see death rings becomes crucial in their missions, but it also draws unwanted attention from powerful entities.

The story explores themes of mortality, identity, and the consequences of defying death. Chika and Shito’s contrasting personalities—Chika’s brash and impulsive nature versus Shito’s calm and calculating demeanor—create dynamic interactions with Michiru, who struggles to reconcile her ordinary life with the supernatural dangers she now faces. As the series progresses, the characters confront their pasts, including the circumstances of their deaths and the reasons they chose to join Zombie-Loan. The narrative builds toward a climactic confrontation with the Management, revealing the darker truths behind the organization’s operations and the cost of their immortality.

The anime blends action, mystery, and supernatural elements, with a focus on character development and moral dilemmas. While the series leaves some questions unanswered, it provides a compelling exploration of its central premise and the relationships between its main characters.
