Gunnar Helm is a German actor and voice actor with an extensive career in film, television, and theater, also known for his work dubbing anime into German. Born in 1956 in Kühlungsborn, he trained at the State Drama School in Rostock from 1973 to 1976. Following his formal education, his early career included work as a professional mime and classical stage actor at various theaters, a craft he began developing alongside his voice acting work.

Helm has amassed a substantial body of voice-over work, with credits for several hundred roles in films and television series. His voice is heard in German dubs of numerous international productions. Within the realm of anime, he is recognized for providing the German voice for key characters. He voiced Homare Kuba in the 2007 anime adaptation of the boys' love manga series No Money, also known as Okane ga Nai. He also took on the role of Yuri Akatsuki in the supernatural series Zombie-Loan. Other notable anime voice roles include Shun Mitaka in the film adaptation of Maison Ikkoku and a role in the Cyberpunk: Edgerunners series. His voice work also extends to providing German voices for actors in live-action productions, such as Johnny Depp's character Gilbert Grape in What's Eating Gilbert Grape.

Beyond his voice work, Gunnar Helm is an accomplished on-screen actor with a long list of credits in German film and television productions dating back to the 1970s, including roles in series such as SOKO Wismar, Notruf Hafenkante, and the Netflix series Kleo. He also founded and runs his own small theater, the Theater Helm, and works as a guest lecturer for acting. Helm is the father of actresses and voice actresses Anne Helm and Luise Helm, continuing a family tradition in the performing arts. A lifelong enthusiast of Japanese culture, he has practiced the martial art Iaidō for decades, a personal interest that connects to his professional work dubbing anime.
