Description
"BTOOOM!" is a survival action anime set in a high-stakes, life-or-death game scenario. The protagonist, Ryouta Sakamoto, is a 22-year-old unemployed man and a top-ranked player in the online game "BTOOOM!" His life takes a drastic turn when he wakes up on a mysterious island, equipped with a bag of BIM bombs—explosive devices central to the game. He soon realizes he has been forced to participate in a real-life version of "BTOOOM!" where players must kill each other to survive and collect enough chips to escape the island.

The narrative unfolds as Ryouta encounters other players, each with their own motivations and strategies for survival. Among them is Himiko, a skilled player who initially distrusts Ryouta but eventually forms a tentative alliance with him. The series explores their evolving relationship as they navigate the dangers of the island, facing off against ruthless opponents and grappling with the moral dilemmas of killing to survive. The story delves into themes of trust, survival instincts, and the psychological toll of violence.

The island itself is a hostile environment, with limited resources and constant threats from both players and the game's overseers. Players are given a set number of BIM bombs, each with unique properties, and must use strategy and cunning to outwit their opponents. The series highlights the tension and unpredictability of the game, with alliances shifting and betrayals occurring frequently.

Ryouta's character is central to the narrative, as his skills as a gamer are put to the test in real-world scenarios. His determination to survive and return to his former life drives much of the plot, but he is also forced to confront the darker aspects of his personality and the consequences of his actions. Himiko, on the other hand, struggles with her own traumatic past and the need to trust others in a world where betrayal is commonplace.

The anime balances intense action sequences with moments of character development, exploring the psychological impact of the game on its participants. The story raises questions about the nature of humanity, the ethics of survival, and the lengths to which individuals will go to protect themselves and those they care about. The series ends on a cliffhanger, leaving several plot threads unresolved and setting the stage for potential future developments.

2The Bloody High School Girl
Himiko wakes on the beach and discovers her bag contains only rations,a stun gun, and a supply of BIMs. Three men approach her: the teacher Isamu Kondo, the overweight Mitsuo Akechi, and the volatile Masashi Miyamoto. The men form a temporary alliance and use BIMs to catch fish. Isamu suggests rationing the food from a dropped supply crate to survive longer. Masashi rejects the idea, accuses Isamu of hypocrisy, and slits Isamu's throat in front of Himiko. That night, Mitsuo wakes Himiko and proposes they flee with all the supplies and bombs. The pair runs into the forest, and Mitsuo reveals that the crystal embedded in his hand functions as a radar to track nearby players. Masashi pursues them to a rope bridge, but Mitsuo deploys a smoke-like BIM that forces Masashi to retreat. Himiko grows suspicious of Mitsuo when he refuses to release her arm, punches him, and tases him before escaping alone. The episode cuts to a flashback: Himiko arrives late to an apartment where her friends Miho, Arisa, and Yuki have been drugged and raped by Yoshioka and his band. Himiko fights off Yoshioka, runs away, and calls the police, but Miho later ends their friendship and wishes Himiko would disappear. Returning to the island, Mitsuo finds Himiko, pins her down, tears open her shirt, and attempts to rape her. Himiko activates a timer BIM, choosing death over the assault. Mitsuo flees, and Himiko throws the bomb, which strikes him and sends his body into a river. Himiko washes herself in a waterfall and declares that all men on the island are her enemies. Ryota Sakamoto then approaches her from the riverbank, setting up a confrontation built on her absolute distrust of men.
3Survival
Himiko packs her bag and leaves Ryota at the beach. Ryota chases her into the forest and uses his hand radar to track her. Instead of Himiko,he finds Kiyoshi Taira defecating in the bushes. Taira explains that masked men rounded up a group of people on a cargo plane. A cheerful man on a screen tells the captives they will participate in a death game on a remote Pacific island. Each player has an IC chip embedded in their left hand that functions as a radar and a scoring system. A player must collect eight chips total, including their own, to leave the island. The captives protest, and soldiers subdue them with tasers. Ryota speaks out and appears to recognize the man on screen, so a soldier tases him in the head, causing memory loss. The plane reaches the island, and soldiers force everyone to jump out with parachutes. Ryota suspects that Tyrannos Japan, the company behind the BTOOOM! game, is responsible for the situation. Taira proposes they team up to improve their odds. Ryota agrees without conditions, and the two decide to respect each other's trump cards without revealing their BIM types. A plane flies over and drops supplies attached to parachutes. Ryota races toward one supply bundle, but a woman named Misako Hojo reaches it first. A mine BIM detonates near her, killing her instantly. A mysterious man retrieves her IC chip and belongings, then leaves. Ryota realizes the supply drop was a trap. Taira convinces Ryota they must pursue another supply parachute because they cannot survive without food. They enter the forest, where Ryota instructs Taira on using the radar. They discover a bloody corpse next to a young man covered in blood.
4Episode 4
Ryouta and Himiko take shelter inside a dark cave. A young boy named Kaito enters the cave and introduces himself. Kaito claims he has not killed anyone and proposes an alliance. Himiko argues for trusting Kaito, while Ryouta remains suspicious. Kaito shows them a flare-type BIM that shoots a bright light into the sky. He suggests using the flare to signal rescue ships. Ryouta warns that the light will also attract hostile players. During the night, Kaito attacks Ryouta with a BIM while Ryouta sleeps. Himiko pushes Ryouta out of the way, saving his life. Ryouta realizes Kaito has killed before and is a skilled fighter. Kaito admits he lures victims with the flare to steal their BIMs. Ryouta fights back and detonates a BIM, killing Kaito. The explosion triggers Kaito's flare BIM, launching it into the sky. The light illuminates the island for kilometers. Elsewhere, a heavy-set man named Masashi sees the flare. Masashi, a former colleague of Ryouta from the game company, checks a tracking device and begins moving toward the flare's location. Ryouta and Himiko leave the cave, knowing the flare has revealed their position to every player on the island.

6Babel
Ryota and Himiko meet a boy who says he is playing alone. The boy suggests climbing a transmission tower to survey the island. Ryota agrees and ascends the tower. Himiko stays on the ground with the boy. From the tower top,Ryota counts at least five other players in the distance. A large man and a woman step out from behind a structure and grab Himiko. The boy reveals that he works with them. The captors order Ryota to throw down all his BIMs. They threaten to kill Himiko if he refuses. Ryota has only three BIMs left. He climbs one level higher instead of complying. He pulls the pin from one BIM and drops it onto the platform beneath him. The explosion blows a hole in the platform and sends debris flying. The large man and woman dive for cover. The boy retreats. Ryota loses his footing and falls. He catches a rusted cable attached to the tower. Himiko remains tied up on the ground, still under the captors' control. Ryota dangles from the cable, unable to climb back up or drop down safely. 10High Level
Sakamoto Ryota survives Oda Nobutaka's trap during their beach confrontation. Oda recognizes Sakamoto from their high school days and departs, taking the food supplies with him. Kira retrieves his BIM bag while Sakamoto lies exhausted on the sand. A flashback reveals Sakamoto and Oda as close friends until Oda slept with Serizawa Aiko, the girl Sakamoto loved. Back at the group's shelter, Date Masahito determines that Komodo dragon venom prevents Taira's wounds from healing and his blood from clotting. Himiko privately warns Sakamoto that Date cannot be trusted, citing Date's earlier attempt to kill her. Sakamoto dismisses Himiko's concerns and insists the group must trust each other to escape the island. The three travel to the abandoned building where Shiki stays, searching for medicine to treat Taira. Date finds expired medicine bottles, places them inside a briefcase, and hands the case to Sakamoto. Himiko runs back shouting for Sakamoto to throw the case away because Date hid a Remote Control BIM inside. Date presses the detonator and the briefcase explodes while Sakamoto still holds it. The explosion leaves Sakamoto's fate unknown as Date believes he has eliminated the group's strongest player.
11Episode 11
Kaito detonates a BIM,killing Masashi instantly. Kaito then turns his attention to Ryouta and Himiko. He throws a BIM toward their hiding spot. Ryouta responds by throwing his own BIM, creating an explosion that blocks Kaito's path. Ryouta grabs Himiko's hand, and they run deeper into the jungle. Himiko's leg wound slows their pace. They find an abandoned military bunker partially hidden by vegetation. Inside the bunker, they locate a working radio transmitter and a set of instructions. Ryouta reads that the transmitter can send a signal to passing aircraft. He powers up the transmitter and sends a distress signal. A cargo plane changes its flight path and descends toward the island. The island's automated defense system activates. Surface-to-air missiles launch from concealed silos. The missiles strike the plane's engine, causing a fiery explosion. The plane breaks apart and crashes into the ocean. Ryouta and Himiko watch the burning debris fall. The sound of the explosion echoes across the island. Ryouta realizes that any attempt to signal for help will result in the same outcome. The episode ends with the two survivors trapped on the island with no visible means of escape.
12Within the Bounds
Ryouta and Himiko arrive at the designated extraction point on a rocky cliff overlooking the ocean. Kaito emerges from hiding and aims a pistol at them. He reveals that he murdered his partner Masashi to secure the only available seat on the helicopter. Kaito demands that Himiko surrender herself as a human shield for his escape. Ryouta refuses and takes a defensive stance. Kaito fires the pistol. Himiko shoves Ryouta out of the line of fire and receives a bullet wound in her left shoulder. Blood runs down her arm. Ryouta activates a time-delay BIM and throws it directly at Kaito's feet. Kaito jumps backward, but the blast destroys the edge of the cliff. Kaito plummets into the sea. The helicopter descends onto the cliff. Ryouta carries Himiko inside the cabin. A crew member dressed in a hazmat suit injects a sedative into Ryouta's neck, then into Himiko's arm. Ryouta struggles but loses consciousness within seconds. He awakens in a white, windowless room. Himiko lies unconscious on a separate bed. A large monitor on the wall shows the island erupting in a series of explosions. Text on the screen states 'To be continued.' The episode ends with both protagonists trapped inside the game operators' facility, with no immediate means of escape.
