Julien Dutel is a French actor primarily known for his work in voice acting, particularly for anime series and films. Born in the Isère department of France, he pursued a DEUG in English before dedicating himself to acting training. From 1999 to 2002, he was a student at the Acting Studio Lyon, where his instructors included Alexis Hénon, Joëlle Sevilla, and Alexandre Astier, the creator of the acclaimed French series Kaamelott, in which Dutel also appeared as the character Kay.

Since becoming active in dubbing around 2012, Dutel has lent his voice to a wide array of characters in Japanese anime. His roles are diverse, ranging from protagonists to supporting characters. He is the voice of the unnamed protagonist, credited as "I" or Watashi, in the critically acclaimed series The Tatami Galaxy. In the series Kids on the Slope, he voices Junichi Katsuragi. He also plays the role of Mamoru Akasaka in the Higurashi: When They Cry series and its OVA releases. For the Goblin Slayer franchise, including the film Goblin's Crown, he voices the character Shaman Nain. In the science fiction series A.I.C.O. -Incarnation-, he is the voice of Yoshihiko Sagami.

Beyond these roles, Dutel's filmography is extensive and includes major productions. He is the French voice of the character Agil in Sword Art Online, also taking on other roles in the series such as Akihiko Kayaba and Eugene. In Baccano!, he voices multiple characters, including Dallas Genoard, Placido Russo, Ronny Schiatto, and Gustave St. Germain. His other notable anime credits include roles in Deadman Wonderland as Kyomasa Senji, Gangsta as Nicolas Brown, Parasyte as Goto, Grimgar of Fantasy and Ash as Ranta, and Katanagatari as several characters, including Uneri Ginaku. His work also extends to video games; for example, he voiced Hercule Poirot, Arthur Hastings, and Franklin Clarke in the French version of the 2016 game Agatha Christie: The ABC Murders.

In addition to performing voices, Dutel is also active in the adaptation and direction of dubbing for anime series. He is credited with French adaptation work for series such as Baccano!, Kids on the Slope, and C-Control, and has served as a voice director for the Higurashi: When They Cry OVA and second series, as well as for Kids on the Slope. He continues to be involved in creative projects and, as of recent years, hosts a show about role-playing games titled Role’n Play, featuring many fellow voice actors.
