Description
Ash Roller is a Duel Avatar and Burst Linker from the Accelerated World, known for his distinctive biker appearance and role as a rival and friend to the protagonist, Silver Crow. In reality, the Burst Linker controlling Ash Roller is a young girl named Rin Kusakabe, though the avatar's persona is heavily influenced by her older brother, Rinta Kusakabe, a professional motorcycle racer who lies in a coma following an accident. Rin uses her brother's Neuro Linker, which she has been able to do since early childhood, to access Brain Burst. As a result, the Ash Roller avatar is based on Rinta's idealized image of himself as a tough biker, and it is either controlled by a virtual personality based on him or by Rinta's own subconscious mind. This creates a unique situation where Rin herself is often unaware of the events that transpire when she is accelerated as Ash Roller, and she does not remember the battles.

The appearance of Ash Roller is that of a post-apocalyptic biker, reminiscent of characters from Mad Max or Ghost Rider. He wears a studded leather jacket and a skull helmet, and his primary equipment is a heavily modified American-style motorcycle called the Night Rocker, which serves as his "Enhanced Armament". The bike is the source of almost all of his combat power, and he has invested most of his level-up bonuses into its capabilities, giving it features like missile launchers and the ability to ride up vertical walls. Without his motorcycle, Ash Roller is exceptionally weak; his personal combat stats are devastatingly low, and he can lose to an opponent even when having a large health advantage if the bike is taken out of the equation.

Ash Roller's personality is loud, brash, and vulgar, matching his punk biker aesthetic. He speaks in a peculiar mix of Japanese and nonsensical, broken English, a mannerism his fellow characters have dubbed "Ash language". He frequently uses profanity and crude gestures, yet his behavior is not usually malicious but rather born from a passionate, larger-than-life persona. Despite his rough exterior, he has a strong sense of honor. He believes that Brain Burst should be an enjoyable game and shows great respect for those who fight fair. He also deeply cares for his friends and, most importantly, his little sister, Rin. He is an ardent "siscon" (sister complex) and can sense her emotions, which can send him into a protective rage if he feels she has been wronged or made sad.

In the story, Ash Roller is memorable as the first opponent Silver Crow ever faced, a battle that ended in a loss for the protagonist. After a rematch later the same day, which Silver Crow won, the two developed a lasting rivalry and friendship. Their regular matches, often held on Tuesday and Thursday mornings, became a popular fixture in the Accelerated World, with the victor of the previous match having the right to "invade" the loser's territory for the next bout. This rivalry is a key part of Ash Roller's role; he is a friendly rival who pushes Haruyuki to improve. He also plays a crucial role as a supporter, most notably when he introduced a despairing Haruyuki, who had lost his wings, to his own "parent," the legendary Burst Linker Sky Raker, which allowed Haruyuki to learn the Incarnate System and regain his confidence.

Ash Roller's key relationships include his parent, Sky Raker (real name Fuuko Kurasaki), towards whom his normally rude demeanor changes into one of humble and polite diligence. He is also the de facto caretaker for a lower-level Burst Linker named Bush Utan, whose own parent lost all their points and disappeared from the Accelerated World. His relationship with Silver Crow deepens significantly after Rin's identity is revealed. During the Chrome Disaster arc, Rin confesses her real-world feelings for Haruyuki. Later, when Ash Roller is forcibly infected with an ISS kit that attaches to his motorcycle, causing Rin to fall ill, Haruyuki and his legion work to save them both. Throughout the series, Ash Roller develops from a simple Level 1 opponent into a trusted and crucial ally, though he maintains his competitive edge. He remains a member of the Green Legion, Great Wall, though he later expresses a desire to temporarily leave to join the Black Legion, Nega Nebulus.

Ash Roller's abilities are almost entirely focused on his Enhanced Armament, the Night Rocker motorcycle. His primary techniques involve high-speed hit-and-run attacks and powerful charges. As he leveled up, his bike gained several special abilities. One of his earliest upgrades is the Vertical Climb skill, which allows him to ride the motorcycle up sheer vertical surfaces. He also has at least two missile-based special attacks: Flying Knucklehead, which releases a swarm of anti-air missiles, and Howling Panhead, which fires homing missiles guided by his line of sight. While he is aware of the Incarnate System, a technique that uses mental power to enhance abilities, Ash Roller has deliberately chosen not to learn or train in it, preferring to enjoy Brain Burst as a straightforward game of skill rather than risk his mental stability.
