Dr. John stands among the Twelve Apostles, scientists collaborating with Dr. Genzou Kuruma on unethical experiments to create "Newmen" by fusing humans with animals. These experiments aimed to surpass human limits and forge humanity's successors, but produced monstrous entities known as "Demonic Beasts." As an Apostle, Dr. John shares responsibility for the destruction of the Tengai family's village and the deaths of Tomisaburo and Maria Tengai's parents. The Apostles also subjected Shinichi Kuruma and his mother, Shizue, to experimentation, resulting in Shizue's transformation into a hybrid fused with a bear, lion, snake, and eagle. Dr. John and the other Apostles escaped aboard a gigantic flying ark, evoking biblical imagery.
