Munetoki Houjou features as a historical figure in the anime "Genji," portrayed as the first son of Hōjō Tokimasa, leader of the influential Hōjō clan. He serves as the elder brother to both Hōjō Masako and Hōjō Yoshitoki. Munetoki met his end in 1180 during the Battle of Ishibashiyama, a decisive early clash in the Genpei War, where he fought beside Minamoto no Yoritomo in rebellion against the Taira clan. His demise led to his younger brother Yoshitoki inheriting leadership of the Hōjō clan.
