Miwa Tamashiro, originally known as Miwa Uzuki and nicknamed Micchi, is a central supporting character in the anime Kotetsushin Jeeg. Fifty years before the events of the series, she served as the pilot of the original Big Shooter, a support aircraft that transported and launched the component parts for the first Jeeg, piloted by Hiroshi Shiba. During a critical battle against Queen Himika, Miwa was shot down and stranded outside the island of Kyushu just as a mysterious energy barrier known as the zone was erected, sealing off the entire region. She never saw Hiroshi again. In the years that followed, she married into the Tamashiro family, becoming the grandmother of Tsubaki Tamashiro, and lived quietly at a shrine atop a hill, where she tended to the sacred Yata no Kagami mirror and watched over the young Kenji Kusanagi and Tsubaki as they grew up. When the Haniwa phantom gods and the forces of the Great Jama Kingdom reawaken after half a century, Miwa abandons her retired life. She takes on the role of commander of the newly built Build Base, directing military operations alongside Professor Senjiro Shiba. She is the one who reveals the motorcycle Raikoba and the transformation equipment to Kenji, enabling him to become the new Kotetsushin Jeeg. Her personality is marked by a calm, no-nonsense demeanor, born from years of experience and loss. She carries a strong sense of duty and a desire to protect the next generation from the threat she once faced. Her motivation is to see the conflict with the Great Jama Kingdom finally ended, and to reunite with the companions she lost, most notably Hiroshi Shiba.
