Description
Mototsugu Shirahama, husband to Saori and father to Kenichi and Honoka, stands 174 cm tall and weighs 68 kg at age 45, possessing a lean physique. He typically sports suits or casual shirts and has short dark blue hair, contrasting his fuller-haired, less lean teenage appearance.

His primary role manifests as an overprotective, comedic parent. Fearing Ryozanpaku dojo's harsh training endangers Kenichi, he repeatedly charges into action, attempting to retrieve his son by force. This impulsiveness sees him brandishing his shotguns—Sebastian, a double-barreled over-and-under, and Maximilian, a pump-action—only for Saori to consistently intervene, often halting him with a frying pan. His comedic relief peaks in exaggerated reactions, like preparing Sebastian against Tanimoto Natsu when Honoka invites him home.

Beneath the foolish exterior lies exceptional marksmanship. Visiting Ryozanpaku with a new hunting rifle named Ludwig (hidden from Saori), he evades Shigure's traps while carrying Kenichi under one arm. He reloads Ludwig one-handed mid-sprint and displays improbable aiming feats, including firing backward without looking to disable traps, earning Shigure's acknowledgment of his skill.

His character arc shifts from opposition to acceptance of Kenichi's martial path. Initially viewing the dojo's training as cruel and trying to forcibly bring Kenichi home, witnessing his son's growth firsthand leads him to relent, showing implicit trust in Kenichi's choices and underscoring his paternal dedication.

His relationship with Saori features deep mutual affection, though she constantly moderates his rashness. While claiming past popularity with young women, he actually won Saori through numerous love letters. She addresses him affectionately as "anata," comically knocking sense into him yet respecting his serious moments of bravery concerning their children.

As a parent, Mototsugu balances goofiness with heartfelt concern. He expresses sadness over Kenichi's growing independence but offers support once assured of his safety. He reacts fiercely to perceived threats against Honoka, consistently embodying the role of a family guardian who blends humor with genuine commitment.
