TV-Series
Description
Carmichael serves as a mechanic aboard the Libertad, working in partnership with Melchisedec, known as Melchi. Together, they design and maintain the experimental Strain unit Ram-Dass, an operation that technically breaches Union laws forbidding customized Strains. Their activities are permitted due to Ram-Dass proving repeatedly essential in rescuing the Basion Academy and its staff.

Carmichael displays a childlike appearance that starkly contrasts with their deep technical knowledge and mechanical proficiency. Despite this youthful look, the crew regards them as a fully capable and equal mechanic. This visual age contrast becomes especially apparent in the epilogue, where other characters show signs of aging while Carmichael and Melchi remain unchanged, still resembling children.

In their partnership, Carmichael primarily supports Melchi, often acting as a stabilizing influence to counterbalance Melchi’s substantial ego and extravagant claims. Their interactions feature a comedic exchange, with Carmichael routinely offering a dose of realism. Their collaboration is pivotal in uncovering and adapting the Emily doll, a mysterious Mimic discovered in their storeroom and reconfigured into a doll form. They remain initially ignorant of the doll’s true origins or importance.

The pair first meet Sara Werec during her investigation of their storeroom. They eventually conceal her secret identity, but later reveal it after learning her background and ties to the traitorous pilot Ralph Werec. Their workshop becomes a crucial site for Sara, both as the place where she finds the Emily doll and where she later realizes she can use it to pilot the Ram-Dass Strain, rekindling her capacity to fight.
