Description
Jail Scaglietti is an artificial human created by the TSAB High Council via the top-secret "Unlimited Desire" project, engineered with genius-level intellect focused exclusively on uncovering ancient Belkan and Al-Hazard technologies. Genetically designed as a research instrument for obtaining Lost Logia-grade weapons, he turned rogue, leveraging his expertise to pursue his own agenda and coercing TSAB leadership into covert cooperation through threats and promises of technological advancements. This cooperation encompassed unethical projects violating TSAB laws, including Project Fate, pioneering artificial mage resurrection, and the development of Combat Cyborg technology.

His primary ambition targeted seizing control of Midchilda to conduct unrestricted research on its populace, viewing living beings solely as experimental subjects. A core element involved locating and reactivating the Ancient Belkan warship Saint's Cradle. To achieve this, he created twelve advanced Combat Cyborgs known as the Numbers, genetically modified individuals he named after Italian numbers (Uno, Due, Tre, etc.) and regarded as his daughters. He implanted DNA clones of himself within them as a resurrection contingency. Scaglietti manipulated others like Lutecia Alpine by promising to revive her comatose mother Megane in exchange for locating Relics, and resurrected Zest Grangeitz as an artificial mage to act as Lutecia's guardian.

The culmination, the JS Incident, manifested as a large-scale terrorist attack on Midchilda. He deployed mass-produced Anti-Magic Gadget Drones and the Numbers to steal Relics, destroy the TSAB Ground Forces Headquarters and the Long Arch aerial command center, disable the Einherjar planetary defense system, and activate the Saint's Cradle by implanting a Relic into Vivio, the clone of Saint King Olivie. The incident involved capturing and brainwashing Ginga Nakajima, resulting in significant casualties including the assassination of the TSAB High Council by the Number Due. Riot Force 6 operatives, primarily Fate Testarossa, defeated and captured him after thwarting his plans and destroying the Saint's Cradle.

Following defeat, he was incarcerated in the Gruen high-security orbital prison above Uninhabited World #9. Four Numbers (Uno, Tre, Quattro, Sette) chose to remain imprisoned alongside him despite offers of pardon for others. While imprisoned, he cooperated with the TSAB by providing expertise on Ancient Belkan history, notably requesting red wine to perform a libation in memory of Due on her death anniversary, demonstrating a continued connection to his creations.

Personality-wise, his creators' design embodies the "mad scientist" archetype, exhibiting manipulative behavior, a disregard for life beyond its experimental value, and ruthless pursuit of knowledge and power. He is highly intelligent, calculating, and capable of respecting scientific colleagues like Presea Testarossa. Despite generally amoral actions, he displays genuine care and affection for the Numbers, treating them as beloved daughters and grieving their losses. He utilizes a unique, unnamed Device shaped like a glove with sharp metallic fingertips, enabling him to cast binding mana threads, energy blasts, and defensive barriers.

In alternate continuities like the manga *INNOCENTS*, his background is reimagined, portraying him as Quint Nakajima's older brother, Granz Florian's friend and rival, and the biological father of five of the Numbers, living a non-villainous life.
