Description
Hero Akatsuki, known as Dawner, is a human male in his early twenties born July 7th. His full name is Dawner Phil Desiree Alstead. He possesses messy blonde hair, blue eyes, and stands 172 cm tall. His signature look features a blue outfit with gold-accented shoulder armor, a red cape, an orange scarf, black gloves exposing only his index and middle fingers, a black gold-accented belt with an eye-like design, over-the-knee black boots, and a forehead accessory.

Entrusted by the Human Confederation of Goodereste, Dawner's mission is to rescue Princess Syalis from Demon King Twilight. His journey is constantly sidetracked by his abysmal sense of direction. Despite perceived obliviousness by demons—who note his failure to grasp the Princess's intense dislike, manifesting as nightmares and avoidance—he demonstrates bravery and persistence, never backing down. His primary worry remains her rescue, alongside a past concern that she couldn't remember him.

Dawner and Princess Syalis are childhood friends engaged by royal order, though she remains unaware of the betrothal. He admires her imagined dignity, ignorant of her true conduct in the demon castle. His clumsy childhood actions, like repeatedly attaching unsafe experimental bombs to her dress and disrupting her sleep, cemented her animosity, leading her to dismissively call him "Daw-What's-His-Name." His relationship with Demon King Twilight is adversarial, complicated by Twilight's mistaken childhood crush on Dawner due to his long hair.

Beyond heroics, Dawner is a diligent student and former Royal Academy president. He fears horror movies and shows weakness toward those in need. His combat tactics include unconventional measures, such as equipping Syalis's dress with bombs for defense—a method she later formally adopts despite initial safety flaws. He quests with companions Kisho, Waker, and Raikou.

Throughout the series, Dawner appears sporadically in his rescue efforts. His actions are often inadvertently thwarted by Syalis's indifference or interference. His unwavering dedication to saving her persists despite her rejection and his navigational challenges.
