Description
Glicko is a domesticated chipmunk, born in a pet store and raised alongside his sister Fluff in a city apartment. He possesses brown fur, dark stripes, large brown eyes, a prominent forehead stripe, and a white undertail, always wearing a distinctive green bandanna around his neck. His personality is playful, energetic, optimistic, and mischievous.
Inspired by tales of the legendary North Forest told by the carrier pigeon Pippo, Glicko becomes determined to reach this place he believes is the true home for chipmunks. Despite warnings of predators like foxes and hawks, and Fluff choosing to stay behind, he sets out alone. His journey begins with resourcefulness, using his owner's hat to glide across the city after escaping a neighbor's cat. He soon encounters the sewer rat Gamba and aids in a fight against a gang of house rats.
Mistakenly arriving at a zoo, Glicko meets another chipmunk, Nono, who also dreams of the forest. Initially resentful, Glicko reluctantly allows her to join after learning she was forcibly taken to the zoo. As they travel, Glicko's protective instincts and resilience grow. When Nono injures her leg during a black cat attack, he searches for and finds her. Later, as Nono suffers from fever and discouragement, he refuses to abandon her, providing food and reassurance. He repeatedly risks himself to distract threats, like luring a hawk into thick vegetation. His bandanna becomes progressively tattered and soiled.
Facing a snowstorm and dwindling hope, Glicko remains steadfast in encouraging Nono. Upon finally reaching the North Forest, a stalking fox attacks. Glicko confronts the predator to protect the others. During a climactic chase, he leaps across a ravine under pursuit. The fox claws his back, tearing off his bandanna, but Glicko escapes as the fox falls. Having found his new home, he asks Pippo to inform Fluff about the forest. His bandanna is lost in this final act of survival.
