Description
Shouryu appears as the twin brother of Kou, arriving with Rinpyo following Kou's death. He shares Kou's blue hair, brown eyes, and standard dark blue Fuma clan uniform. His personality contrasts with his brother's, exhibiting a calmer, more controlled demeanor; he maintains composure during conflict and shows consistent respect toward fellow clan members. Shouryu displays strong loyalty, grieving Kirikaze's death and willingly risking his life to save Ryoma from mind control.
In the Yasha-hen arc, Shouryu immediately questions an impostor posing as Kou due to unexplained injuries, exposing and defeating Byakko of the Yasha clan. His primary combat technique, Byakkujin, manipulates colored feathers with distinct properties: white feathers provide simultaneous attack and defense, blue feathers deliver linear strikes, red feathers follow curved trajectories, and black feathers enable stealth assaults. Unlike most Fuma members, he does not wield a sword.
During the Fuma Rebellion arc, Shouryu allies with Kirikaze and Ryuho to suppress the New Fuma Clan. He confronts the traitor Raien, who is manipulated by Shimon. Shouryu ultimately sacrifices himself to break Shimon's mind control over Ryoma, enabling Ryoma's survival. His death occurs last among the protagonists.
A later sequel manga, Yagyu Ansatsucho, features revived Fuma clan members manipulated into opposing Kojirou, including Shouryu.
